Nos+t5 Clutch=?

Recommended Posts

Had a sh*t house night at WSID tonight, got a couple of flat 15's in N/A and the best on NOS was a :stirthepot: 14.846sec pass.

The clutch is the weak point its slipping under load and the only way I can use the NOS is in forth and by then your F'N crossing the line.

Tried NOS in second and the bas*ard clutch span somthing stupid and kept spining through third as well.

So Ive come to the point that Ive got an awsome dyno car but getting the power to the wheels is at this time imposible unless theres rollers under the ass end.

Can't cry to much the N/A 15.003 was a bees dick from the 14s I was more than expecting, but the NOS runs where some of the most crap experiences of my life and Im cut over the F/N thing.

NOSXR now Turbo dreaming, strange thing is right now it'd be faster with less power, how many of us can say that?

Bad luck Nos man. Its hard to get any manual BA down the track quickly, and it sounds like with NOS it is proving damn hard.

Your right about the power level, you would do a very low 13 probably with that power level if it was a T.

I ran a 12.7 with less than 10kw's more than you have now.

Dont give up, you neeed to think of yourself as the Geea of the NA's :stirthepot: and lead the way mate.

Are you still running the stock XT clutch? or an XR6T clutch?

Either way, there's more to going quick than rwkw.. Now you know why it's easier to get a T down the 1/4. Power doesn't come on straight away like it does in yours I assume. Lag is our friend getting these heavy things out of the hole..

$1K for a clutch should see a 14. but then your looking at gearbox breaking power when you hit the NOS, in-fact, your slippy clutch is probably doing your gearbox the world of good....

Do I mention the words 'trade-in'??

Almost a sleepless night last night.

I'd be doing lower times with a 50 shot set up that I could jet in second gear. As far as the clutch goes it may be fine, I think the problem is it maybe unable to stand up to the torque pushed at it with NOS in the lower gears (when you need it the most).

Don't know how long I want to parsue strip performance with this car, its a F'N hand full to get it right.

Hell bent on a 13sec pass the result follows :crybaby: :

When I tried the NOS in second the clutch slipped and the rpm went sky would, no option than to reach for third, slot third and the rpm count drops to the rate of the speed I was doing F all. Now with the clutch already cooked you've still got to give it a go. Jet again and slip the F'N clutch again, now heres the important bit, crack the sh*ts shut the NOS off roll down the 1/4 in the slowest time an XR has ever been seen doing at WSID, F off and go home. :spoton::spoton::laughing:

It was a top night, makes me want to go back next week, anyone want to buy a dyno car?

Talked to a friend who does the day to day maintainance on my car, he's thoughts are:

"look at what you went and built, its no drag car the power comes on to hard, the set ups wrong for the 1/4 and to make it right will most likely stuff your drivability".

"It a'nt no dyno comp winner, its got limited down low power so its got limited circet aplications, but what you do have is car that can stand with almost anything at high speed, problem is where can you use it"

With his word rolling around in my head its clear his right.

Funniest thing of the day:

Me: So should I just drop the power to a 50 shot?

Darren: Are your f***n joking, f*ck that dry your eyes and get on with the f***n job.
