It's the opposite over this side of town, I usually get vortex 98 but they don't have any anywhere...had to settle for optisoot (or whatever it's called now)

I have forever used Shell 98, BP Ultimate and Vortex.

In the next few weeks when the new engine is run in ill be getting the engine tuned on E85, its like race fuel on pump!

IVe been a Huge supporter of bp ultimate. etc etc

However recently I was told by an older guy that used to work for a refinery in Pinkemba Brisbane at one of the refineries up there

Either Bp or Caltex he wouldn't tell me

But He said to me that There is one pipe line that goes between the Refinerys So somedays its a bit of caltex fuel going down to the distribution center and one day its Bp.

What does everyone think?

Maybe I was confused, I was thinking maybe that he meant that the crude oil has only one pipe line that runs from the dock to the refinery 's

I could understand that becasue its all made from crude and then processed into A high octane fuel.

Also heres my second part to the post....

What do you do if you've set your car up to run primarily on 98-Upwards and there is no 98+ fuel available. This is what bought about the first question originally, Caltex had a refinery fire up there and bp ran out of fuel and is still short of high octane fuels....

So Im without a car for a while I guess short of re tuning her all again

..

cheers guys

ive never been in a situation where I cant find any 98.

though if I had to, I would load my crap fuel tune in and use whatever premium unleaded (95) I could get into my tank.

or another option would be to find any sort of premium(95) and throwing in a bottle of octane booster.

Merged.

In this thread xrtsteve you’ll find about 100 theories from uncles/mates/neighbours/goldfish that were all refinery workers and in the know about what fuel goes where, why and how. Hopefully that helps!

I have been a big fan of bp ultimate, but yesterday was low so filled up with shell v power. well I gotta say that there was a massive seat of pants improvement. however I havent noticed a big difference before. is it common for octane levels to be higher sometimes?
