Posted 30/09/05 03:05 AM Share Posted 30/09/05 03:05 AM I'm an anything I can find type person, but I like to put through Vortex if I have a choice... Ever since my old car (both of them) ran like a dog on Shell fuel I have tried to avoid it... (Specifically Shell in Dickson, it seemed to be the worst of them all)

No difference at all to how the car goes. Petrol usage suggests same mileage as when using the Premium.....and like Grass said, handbook advises either petrol is fine......and before you all claim "yes, but your engine will turn to crap and fall out of your car".....there's a hell of a lot of cars out there using the standard unleaded petrol and they don't appear to be falling to bits. wippdaddy Member 41 Member For: 19y 3m Posted 08/10/05 03:52 AM Share Posted 08/10/05 03:52 AM I use BP Ultimate cause I'm pretty sure that it is the only 98 ron fuel you can get in Darwin. Does anyone know of any avings you can get with BP fuels cause it sucks paying $1.57/L, the price never drops either. Might have to check out the independants for one of the ethanol blends. I would rate the ones I have tried in my car as follows:1. Shell 2. Mobil 80003. Caltex 984. BP :( Ran like crap on this. Of course fuels are different state to state and it helps if the servo you fill up from is a busy one as it keeps the fuel fresh Hume Highway Shell - decent price and on the way to work.RegardsM G

Got the best dyno read out on ultimate though so go figure Neil

I will get the 98 (BP) or the 95(Caltex) if the price differential is low, else ULP it is.If I can't get to either of these I use whatever is next along the road. That said, I do try to put 98 in at least once a month to keep things clean and have noticed the extra bang for buck but not convinced that it is worth the extra cash. As for better fuel economy... seem a load of ...not in this car, same no matter what I use.For some reason I "feel" that the Shell optimax is the "smoothest" fuel in my car but I don't make a point of gettting it due to the price and hassle of having to pay up front and claim it back later. Holy sh*te! The best we can get around here is 93, and that's an ethanol blend.
