I might have to meet up with someone who is in the know on this one cos the pics all look the same to me (another mechanical nuffy).How do you get the whistle of the turbo sounding louder?←Its more of a flutter than a whistle, I have my bov off completly and it sounds insane.←Compleatly off what are you doing with the plumbing. Is it back into the intake?? Wouldnt you be loosing boost.←the std BOV plumbs the air back int othe intake.by taken the BOV off it realse there out to atmosphere. ←So wouldnt you loose boost by doing this???. Isn the BOV there to seal the intake whilst under boost then release the pressure when the throttle closes??←Well I dont know the dicniqcal side of things but ive tryed bothand they feel the same to me didnt loose and boost. I used 1'' rubber chair tips from bunnings at an almighty cost of $2.20 for a pkt of 4! The one to the back of the crossover pipe is like a plug and I removed the hose and drilled a 10 mm hole in the another tip make it sound better.Then I leaned bov onto the hose that runs from the pcv valve to stop it from butting up against the other chair tip, this muffles the sound alot when they are touching.Hey peoples... gonna give this a go today while iv got some time.If anyone has done this mod and is on the forum please post Just to make things more clear for me, is there supposed to be 10mm holes in both chair tips or just one?? As the air goes into the bov it actually compresses against the side of the internal piston and not underneath it like a conventional turbosmart style valve. In other words it's mounted in reverse. So on the XR6T's the valve is opened by vaccum from the top thin tube not from boost acting against the piston. When the car is at idle or cruising at a constant speed at low revs then the car is actually operating under vacuum and not under boost. Therefore the bov it open a little bit. By opening a tad it actually sucks in air that by passes the turbo, thus making the engine about 0.000000001% more efficient. On the turbosmart dualport valves the hole that releases to the atmosphere is located higher than the hole that vents back into the intake tract. This design ensures that when the valve is open slightly at idle or cruising the air is taken from the intake tract and not the atmosphere. On the std bosch valve when the car is cruising or at idle (ie under vacuum) the air is taken from the unfiltered atmosphere (if you have done the bov mod to make some noise).
