Whats important is how much power are you currently running??

I tested a 3" system, along with a bunch of others (for reference please look at http://www.bestmufflers.com/Information/Cu...yno_results.htm )

and the max I could get out of the car was 270rwkw. I had to up the size of the exhaust to get more then that.

what would be the best exhaust to fit to my xr6t (ute), I was thinking 3" from the turbo back with high flow cat.

By the way I got the capa flash tuner - its a decent improvment in kw's for a $1000

Do A search, there is ALOT of information on what will suit your requirements. Be careful in modding your exhaust as you can and will go backwards in power. There are not many alternatives. XR6ISM has done alot of reasearch so search his threads they should also give you further indication. :spoton:

are you after an exhaust for better sound or for getting more power...

If your not planning on modding your car to more then 280-300rwkw... then I would keep the stock exhaust (is a great system) and remove the centre muffler and replace it with a madrel bent section with hot dogs... sounds great :spoton:

not to hijack the thread or anything but what exhaust would be needed if your were chasing 400-450rwkw.... and to still keep it street legal...

cheers

if I was to do 4inch dump pipe and cat into 4 inch pipe to centre muffler then 3 1/2 and then split it into twin pipes so I have the quad on each side... will having the quad pipes effect performance cause many people I have spoken to said it does??

As long as its done properly, and the bends aren't too sharp there shouldnt be a problem. Also depends on the welds, normally you would want an exhaust tig welded from the inside rather then mig from the outside. This stops spatter etc to get caught inside the system.

There are all small things though, the easy answer to the question is no, it wont effect it (PS, also depends on the pipe sizes when you break off etc)
