I'm looking for anyone who's actually converted a BAI/BAII XR6 or XR6T (or even F6) to LPG or dual fuel.

I want to know if it's possible, and whether new LPG systems are worth getting - I had an LPG install in 1999 on an EL XR6, it was awesome but backfired every now and then, and suffered a bit on the power side.

I'm interested to hear first hand information (or if you know anyone who has, can you please pass on some info from them?)

I've looked into all the LiquiPhase and new GTi system etc, but they are all a long way off.

Any info on new-technology LPG conversions that are actually commercially available are welcomed...

Thanks!

Nick

Apart from the fact that Im sure SOMEBODY has done it - why bother.

If your in the market for an XR6T - and your considering converting it to LPG because of fuel price, dont buy an XR6T. By a fiesta or something else.

Having said that. Gas research dandenong (VIC) do convert cars to lpg with turbo systems.

For the obvious reasons that you can get 100% octane on gas only system!

You can actually get better power and torque out of a gas turbo'd car than your current petrol equivalent. (excluding race fuel of course)

Im not talking about a dual fuel setup.

I wouldn't mind straight LPG.

Dual fuel gives greater range but kills the boot capacity and means more complex control systems.

And as for why bother at all...

Why not get the looks and the power of an XR6 Turbo, along with SIGNIFICANTLY lower running costs (I do at least 35,000km a year) as well?

I know which one I'd choose between a Fiesta vs Falcon for 2 adults and 3 kids between Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne... Hmm...

Each to their own, I'm looking for anyone who's done it.

I just signed up today for a new BA MkII XR6 - to be delivered early October and to be dual fuel converted after run in at about 3000km.

LPG system is on the contract, to be dealer fitted and warrantied.

Travelling 500kms a week I can't afford to run an XR6T - but I can have the look I want and keep the economy by having an XR6 dual fuelled.
