Removing The Standard Stereo - Can It Be Done?

Ive noticed that people who have installed aftermarket head units such as screens have installed them below the standard stereo and climate control in front of the gear stick.

is it possible to remove the standard stereo and fit an after market unit in its place? if the plastic trimming can come off easily and is not attached to the stereo or fan/temp controls then fibreglassing a custom centre console isnt a huge problem. it could be made to fit in lace of the original item leaving a standard din size whole to fit a new deck? does anyone know if this is possible or is every attached as one whole unit??

I have found that the easiest way to remove your stereo is to leave your car parked in Redfern for about 20 mins (doors locked or not, it doesn't seem to matter).

I do not have a solution for getting another refitted though!

Nothing useful to add.......

It's all a part of the body control module that is mated to the PCM and is an integral part of the car.

RCA Output, don't be silly, that would have been making life too easy for the customer.

If you want to run external amps you will need to use the high level inputs from the speaker cables and then run your speakers and subs from your amp.
