I am about to sign up for a new XR6 MkII sedan, SSS auto, on Monday.

I'm opting for a cheap deal on a runout model rather than waiting for the BF (and I prefer the look of the BA to the BF anyway)

Drawing upon all of your combined experience, are there any things I should consider doing sooner rather than later, eg put new pads in straight away to avoid disk warp/brake shudder ?

I'm thinking of things that perhaps you might class as preventative maintenance.

Cheers guys :)

Mate im currently driving a Mark II April Build (demo) and it seems to be great after 15,000 kms.. The brake problem was fixed late in 2003 I believe therefore you should not have a problem at all.

They are a great car if your buying at the right money!

Do you mind if I ask how much?

The only options id go for would be the premium sound and 18's... I hate BA II 17's but that's just my personal opinion.

Good luck. :laughing:

My only advice would be to run them on Pulp and get the oil changed at the 3,000 km service rather then just the inspection...

The only other thing I would recommend you do if you do alot of night driving is put some of these Phillips 50 + 50 bulbs in, they are damn awesome. :msm:

Well, this is what the draft contract looks like;

Retail price, plus dealer delivery, less discount $32,842.86

Accessories;

- Carpet mat set blue XR- included

- Dash mat - included

- Luggage compartment liner - included

- Front mudspats - included

- Rear mudspats - included

- Lock nuts for alloys - included

- XR Scuff plate kit - included

- Bonnet protector - included

- Lifetime window tint - included

- Prestige paint (Bionic) - included

- Dual fuel gas conversion - $2,454.55

Subtotal $35,297.41

GST $ 3,529.74

Total including stamp duty & rego $41,950

But as I am doing a novated lease, the amount financed is exclusive of GST (lease company gets a credit for it, so doesn't charge it up front, but charges it in lease payments, employer gets a credit for it, so doesn't charge me it)

So the amount financed is $38,420

For a brand new, dual fuel Falcon

Ok...

Mine cost me $36,000 with 18 inch rims, Premium sound, Spats, Mats, Headlight covers, Foglight covers, Dash mat, Nokia Car kit and this was 12 months ago...

I could have a brand new one without Dual Fuel for $33,000 drive away inc GST and on roads... I think you should work them a bit harder!

Hmmmm - I'm starting to think the same thing....

I'm getting a fleet discount of $4400, and all those bits mentioned thrown in, but there doesn't seem to be any "run-out" pricing reduction

Yeah, it would be. But this is an NA and a duel fuel ULP/LPG

:blush::blush:

Redid some numbers and applied some persuasion

(waves hand in a Jedi like manner)

Final cash cost to me $27,951

None up front

$18k in lease payments spread over 5 years

$9,900 residual at the end of the 5 years.

Edit: Oh - and I also got the following extras on top;

- tow bar kit

- headlamp protectors

- Seat back organiser x2

- First aid kit

(last 2 items being my Wife's input :blush: )

Rik, did you trade something in to get that final amount?

IMO that's pretty good price. Especially with dual fuel, have you got a specific date they're installing it?

I'm seriously considering an N/A XR6 on dual fuel for the missus.

Then I get to go straight for the Phoon for myself! :)

Just be aware that these puppies dont hold their value so drive it till it dies, or make sure your payout is very low at the end of your lease CHP or whatever....
