Hi Guys,

Here is the latest...

Off to the EPA this morning to get the car checked.

Could have ranted & raved, but I kept it cool.

Explained it was a stock system & showed him service report from my Ford dealer to say system was standard & in accordance with factory specs.

The EPA guy after revving the car a couple of times, said "are you

sure you haven't made any mods"

The (first) test he did failed. I said what will I do now, suggested this is a far bigger issue than just my car. After this, he made a phone call, then spoke to someone else & consulted some book from the office.

Looking a little puzzled, he did a second test & guess what, it passed, right on legal limit. Also while there he checked under the hood at BOV & airbox induction (both std on mine)

Also in the sort time I was there, saw a WRX & Skyline both fail the test.

So be aware, apparantly tese EPA guys are out & about in Sydney and they only need to have a suspicion to get you in.

Just a whole heap of wasted time for me.

Cheers,

muzzzza

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I had to go to the EPA in botany once to get my old corolla emission tested as I coped a load of defects on it (too low, too loud, not engineered import engine). it was supercharged and even though I turned off the supercharger, I still failed the emission test miserable. they are very very picky on emissions and exhaust sound.

that's really low, I think I would also wait for the summons and take them to court.

yeah I agree.

let them look stupid and cost them money. dead set joke. defecting a standard car for exhaust noise.

Have you checked your xaust is all in good nick and undamaged ?

if it is ok... let em have it ...

I just hope its good because the fine would stay and Ford will just say its not been maintained or something like that ....

just looking for all possible escape routes that might let them get away with this
