Increasing Fuel Prices And Vaporate

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

With the increasing fuel prices still rising, and my refusal to garage the XR6T, in favour of a Vespa :blink: I've a question regarding;

'Vaporate'

www.vaporate.com

Does this work & has anyone had it installed?

The website is informative and appears to back up its claims, but having little technical knowledge in, fuel, combustion and priciples regarding this device I'm going to keep the $289 it costs to purchase it.

Also, are their any other fuel saving devices (minus the Coles and Woolies shopper dockets)

Feedback would be great and I wonder if Repco would consider lower purchase price if a bulk order was placed?

Regards,

Darren

So the answer would seem to be No.

Now why couldn't some else on the Forum have tried Vaporote before I did.

It appears to work on Commodores going by the testimonials.

I dont know how they can make any claims.

EG: I drive near on 60kms each day to and from work, predominantly in peak hour traffic. My fuel consumption is generally 420-440k's for 63 litres. However, If I left later on two days and missed the traffic, my economy would improve because of less stop-start.

My point is, unless you drive the same route under the same conditions every day, I cant see how you could know

If you want to save fuel, change your driving style

I drive the same route to work every day it is open road 35 klm round trip. I drop the kids of at school, again open road apart from the school zone. My driving style hasn't changed.

I must admit I am finding it difficult to control the weather conditions.

IMHO the only way to save "alot" of fuel in a T is to tape a cricket ball (or simular sized hard object) to the underside of the accelerator pedal.

Another option may be an edit with 3000rpm redline cutout :spoton:

bottom line is, its only a few bucks at worst per tank you loose....for me, im happy to pay the extra $5 per week :stirthepot:

Regards your comment "its only a few bucks at worst per tank". We did the calcs at work the other night regarding chasing the 4c off per litre at Shell. On the average of 20,000klms per year it amounted to $150-$200 for the full year.

As you said the differance isn't great.

Dug up an old thread I know.

Well my test of Vaporate is over. I found that it did provide some improvements but NO where near the claims of 10-20%. I saved around 0.5lts per 100klms.

So I sent Vaporate the facts in preperation of a full as promised refund. Now this is where it gets interesting. The details were sent 2 weeks ago. My supplier/fitter talked to them 2 weeks ago. Today all phone numbers are dead and they can't be contacted.

So I have no idea what is going on now. The good thing is that it doesn't affect the running of the car so it can stay if it has to.

I did notice that with vaporate preferably using std unleaded I'm sure there were times I heard the engine pining under load. Anyway Ive gone back to premium now and no pinging.
