No Petrol Day

This one's been around a few times.

I fill up every week. That means that I dont visit a servo 6 out of 7 days in a week. So if I make sure that the 22nd is one of those days, then no problem.

Rather than have a day where we all dont fill up. Why not have a day where we all DO fill up and drain every servo in Aust, there wont be time to react to pricing and the major oil co's will not be able to keep up with demand and breach their supply agreements with local operators. Rather than starve ourselves, why not stave the suppliers.

Ironic yes?

I think stave their fuel supply is a good idea... But sadly they know that anything we do is fruitless... Unless we can find an alternate source of fuel other than petrol (I'm thinking cooking oil here) they know that there is SweetFA that we can do that is truly going to stop them... (BTW cooking oil can be used to power cars, there is a guy in CBR that drives his car around on the stuff, I think the only catch is that it needs to be a diesel...)

What a good idea!!! NOT!

Dont fill up for 1 day and the Oil companies lose a couple of million.. So what do they do.

They just make up for it over the next month by raising fuel prices a little more and for a extended period of time!

Its unfortunate when a person of small mind gets in front of a computer and thinks up a 'good idea' and then spams it out via email.. Sheep mentality takes over.. "if I got it via email it must be a good idea!"

When will people start using their brain matter...

Unless everyone stopped USING fuel for a week then it would have minimal impact. And what are the chances of that happening?

But back to the original plan, you don't buy fuel on a given day but it means you will either fill up before or after the day to compensate.

So we don't buy fuel on the 22nd. Are we going to sit at home and not drive to work that day either? Ignoring the fact that this concept has been around since before I had a drivers licence (fuel hits 70c a litre, lets all not buy fuel for a day), it pointless. Let's say that you use 60litres of fuel a week normally. You're still going to use 60 litres this week again, you'll just fill up the day before or a day later (or run out of petrol and have to be towed, 'cos you can't buy fuel). Oil companies aren't stupid, they will apply the same logic as I.

The entire thing is a complete waste of everyone's time, including mine posting this.
