Hi guys, I'm wondering if any of you guys can shed some light on my problem I am having with my XR6 Turbo Ute.

Ute surging on hwy, runs very rough at idle sometimes and either stalls or tries to take off on it's own like you have accelerated, sometimes when I go to accelerate normally nothing happens and then all of a sudden it takes off madly, blows heaps of black smoke when idling rough, and using lots of fuel. :fool:

I have been checking sensors, vac leaks etc and have checked my O2 sensor against Miss Aly's and found the grey wire has a dead short where as Aly's has not. Could this be my problem.

Ford have been no help at all!!!! They first told me to put everything back to standard ( I had plumbing, pod air filter, larger injectors, edit, modified exhaust) I do as they wish and leaving the larger intercooler in place and I take it back to Ford and as soon as they see the larger intercooler they say that's my problem. PRICKS!! :spoton: So I have decided to try and fix it myself. Mind you I have been to 3 Ford dealers about my problem.

The ute does the same thing on the ford std tune with std injectors as well as on the edit tune with large injectors.

I would appreciate any thoughts on this, thanks Guys.

Regards Brian. :spoton:

Find a dealer that isnt a goat.........

I had problems with my o2 sensors but didnt know that and had dealers telling me to put my car(xr8) back to standard untill I found one that knew what was going on, problem was a factory fault and didnt require returning it back to standard.

Hi,

I know this is probably not the problem. But it sounds similar to what my mates Xr8 ute had. What you describe sounds similar, but could be something totally different. But here is goes anyway.

It only seemed to be just a blokage in the throttle body, a build up of crap on either side of the butterfly. All his mechanic did was just pull it off and gave it a clean.

This problem does sound a bit wierd but, hopefully remote and can be a one off fix!! Good luck!

Brian,

The Ford dealers have been issued memo's instucting them not warrant any work on cars with any mods. If they do and try and put in a claim Ford may and can revoke their dealership. So you must understand their point of veiw.

If you really want to have the problem sorted it would only take approx 1 hr to fit standard IC. If this satisfies the dealer that he can know cover his arse and say to Ford the car has no mods on it and they can now fix your ute. I pesonally think it's the easiest option.

It may not be your preferred option, but if you've returned everything else back to stock I don't really see the problem if the car is fixed.

Unfortunately times have changed with pressure on the dealers and warranty claims, maybe its a direct response because of the edit, that Ford have put their foot down. At least with a piggyback they could see what you've been up to.

I doubt I would be so lucky with new transmittions in the current climate.

I must agree with you Macka, we must not forget the dealers side, because there neck is on the line. And yes your right it doesn't take long to wack in the original cooler.

If a new O2 sensor doesn't fix it  I will be puting the original cooler back in and I will take it to your dealer. :spoton:
