Thanks 2fardown, so it sounds like an upgrade is unnecessary then.  Does anyone know off the top of their head what socket size is needed to undo the plugs?  Also, are there any issues I should be aware of, such as the need for specific torque settings when reinstalling, whether any other precautions should be taken to make sure they don't work themselves loose after being removed/reinstalled, etc?  :spoton:

Bugster70. I regapped mine yesterday. It's not a bad job getting the intakes etc off but you will need a socket to suit with the foam centre to capture the plug and lift it out. They are buried about 4 inches down the hole. I did not worry too much about tension as they are tappered seat plugs but I did put some neversieze on the threads. Iv'e been told to gap at 0.8-0.9mm. I went 0.85. Yes they are Iridium plugs. Cheers.

Great I'll regap the plugs, what gap do you recommend? I will also be trying the 10psi program, so is the same gap required for both?

.85-.89 for all maps.

Another thing I have noticed is when you start it up (cold), it idles at 2,000rpm for 3-4 seconds then settles. Is this normal?

Yes, this is a common trait of the generic tune, although the latest upgrade should have fixed this, same goes for TC problems.

I'm using the generic tunes to determine roughly what I want from my T. Once I decide I will get a custom tune. It maybe the "8" or maybe the "10" or both or a complete custom tune. One problem I have here in Newcastle there is no-one that can perform this.

Well worth exploring, even if you have to go for a drive, say, Sydney!

Your advise is appreciated!

So what were the results? Was the problem solved?

I gapped my plugs to 0.9mm today and on the 10psi tune its pinging, mainly when changing gears. :msm: Why would that be? I only run BP Ultimate

Was it pinging before you gapped the plugs?

because there are so many variables its hard to do a medium that makes everyone happy. Why do some cars make more power then other standard, cos its what happenes when you mass produce something, things vary and change. Why do some cars get more power then others with the base tune? cos cars are all different, CAPA have done there best to make sure the tunes work everywhere.

I havent seen a T ping on the base 10 psi map yet but. U will probably need a custom tune to rectify that problem mate.

Very slight pinging before regap. So slight I was asking myself was it pinging at all or something else. Now it will ping for a full second around 5000 and when changing gears

I find it strange that it would only happen during a shift... Are you sure its pinging?

Does it sound like some little elf is throwing ball bearings around your engine bay? Or is it just like hes just slightly tapping the block with a hammer in rythm with your rpm?

Our ghia has the oh so slight, but completely rythmic tap under hard acceleration. But we know 100% that it isn't pinging because we reckon its just one of the injectors being overly vocal...
