Hi guys. Just thought I share a story with ya,s about my dads car.He has a XJR V8 Jaguar that is Factory supercharged. Now the car is now 7 years old and when new,he paid $220000 big ones +an EB xr8 that he traded. When he got it he showed it off to everyone but I didnt really like it much.He took me for a spin and JEEEEZZZZZUUUUSSS did this thing go.Made his XR8 feel a bit doohy(They are any way)

After getting out I was so impressed with how this thing accelarted. The factory specs said it was good for 13.9 quaters and I tell you what,I believe it.

Anyway,as my years of modding my own cars went by,I always wanted a car that went that good.I had a TE corty with a chunky 250 xflow and 4 speed and decided it was time to have a crack at the Jaguar title.

We decided to go to a private road to conduct our race.We line up and decide to do a rolling start -10kmh.Off we go and the corty breaks traction but regains to see the Jag Start legging it away from me like I left my hand break on.NOT IMPRESSED.

Couple of years go by and a give him romours of a new Beast in the making ready to have a crack at the title. This time I set it up a bit better.

I started with a 1965 XP falcon 4 door with a 250hp 250 alloyhead xflow with 600 vac sec Holley, big cam, elec dizzy recurved, extractors running through a 3 speed C4 auto with 3000rpm stally into a limo centura diff running 3.9 rearend gearing(OR CLOSE TO IT).

Anyway, the time comes to meet and after some pre race talk we arrange a rolling start again as the XP falcon needs the traction. We run again from 15kmh and GO

the 2 cars leap with even urgency.I grab 2nd throught the manualised Pro rachet shifter and get about a 2 metre hold on him but as I grab 3rd ,The jag starts to stretch its legs and start to pretty rapidly leave me in its dust.

Oh well had him up untill 100kmh.No excuses though,BEATIN

Ok 4 years pass and after a couple of runs in other cars I owned(R33 Skyline 10 psi boost, exhaust and filter)no luck yet.Blown into the weeds every time

He thought hes Jag is the quickest thing out and cause he beat me every time made it suck worse.

I then rock to his house in a Blueprint XR6 Turbo 6 months later to show it off.

he new how much I loved these cars as I always said I would buy one.He jumped in it and was quite impressed of how well engineered the car was compared to his but after a few stabs of it he says(NOPE,STILL NOT AS QUICK AS MY JAG)

Rightly so,In stock form it got beat.not by heaps but it got beat every time.

So comes the day that after 6 months of owning it and readimg the XR6turbo forum I have some ammo under the bonnet(THANKS TO JEFFS PHANTOM BEAST)

He new the car was modded up but never really believed the tunabilty of a turbo car.

Now,one day we run in to each other on this private road again and we line up.

Ready are we.sh*t yes.He had no idea what he was in for.

We decide for a rolling start again(THANK GOD) and roll away.Next second we launch. The XR6T rolls in to a blaze of wheel spin as it shifts it bum from side to side,At this point he thinks he has it in the back but then I regain traction and hit second gear.Oh my god he said,as he watch the ford pick its nose up and GONE.

The Jag didnt stand a chance And the look on my old mans face at the end of it

PRICELESS.

He was stunned and had to have a drive.Awesome he said,Could not believe the tourque it had for a 6 and now could feel the difference with some Boost wacked threw it.

Anyway to cut it down short,I was very happy to blow the doors off hes $200000k pride of joy for about 1/4 of the cost.

I know mate but still daunting and nervous to race.Been 7 years at it but I knew deep inside I would win.I will run the Jag at willowbank and see what it can do.I reackon a high 13 is still possible. It launches hard and is very tractable

Love your work dude, but those jags are nice and comfy, you can't go past that sometimes....

My brother had a fully rebuilt 2L cosworth motor in an old esky, with the rs quad trumpet, twin webbers (or are they Holley's? Can't remember..). Fairly lumpy cam, tough head work and a meaty set of extractors. The sound was odd though, quite odd, it really barked but never droned...

That thing went nuts, reved to 8 grand still pulling hard... Much traction was lost..

But Daz, can he do a donut & I'm sure unlike APS XR6 you have never been top end charged by a 6 tonne dyna towing a trailer, I'll let Jeff admit his losses of lastnight

fpvT6,

Great little storey there mate! I know all about those Jags, My late father sold them before he passed away suddenly 4 years ago. And I too have had similar drags with him although I beat him in a heavily modified RX7 Turbo and he couldn't believe it. So he then lined me up agianst his mate Porsche RSR thing (slightly older one but still quick) and after quietly crapping myself I waxed it too! Good fun!
