Hi guys.

Ever since I installed the Walbro GSS-341 fuel pump, I often get momentary instances of loss of fuel that lasts for about 5 secs.

It normally occurs when Im cruising and just touching the throttle. There's no back firing or noticible power loss (at light throttle anyway), just the grrrr feel under foot that there's no fuel. Then all is okay.

Is it a coincidence that it started happening after the Walbro install?

Is it because I used the original pump filter where I shouldve used the Walbro supplied pump filter?

Help! What should I do?

current draw of the walbro may be higher than stock check this first as relays some times heat up and cause this symptom similar to a circuit breaker!!!

or one of the hoses might be sucking air, does not take much of a leak to cause a problem, and it can be inconsistent,(I had that problem with mine)

This is still happening and its starting to worry me.

Dont know what it will do to the motor if its at 5500rpm in 3rd and it happens then.

The other day it also happened when bringing up 3500rpm in neutral and stationary while calibrating my G-Tech.

I doubt whether there was much load in this instance and therefore a need to go to a higher rated relay. Has anyone else changed fuel pump relays when going to the walbro unit?

I did swap with another same rated relay inside the fuse box incase it was faulty but the problem continues.

I also checked the hoses at the fuel pump for looseness but nothing.

This does have me thinking though;

I didnt mark the 3 hoses for when I reattached them. 1 of them is larger than the other 2 so cant be mistaken but the other 2 can be. The large one is the main fuel feed and the other 2 are fuel returns and breathers (I guess). Theyre both black where 1 has black release clips while the other has grey clips. I might have these attached these the wrong way around and this might be the cause of the problem.

Can someone please do me a favour and have a look at their fuel hoses and tell me which way the 2 smaller hoses go on the fuel pump?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I cant check my car, its 700klms away.

But id be guessing that the 2 return lines that speak of, 1 would be for the charcoal cannister. When Kirsty's AU shat a fuel pump, the service dept mixed up them hoses when replacinig it, she parked it afterwards on her steepish driveway, the charcoal cannister filled up with fuel!:spoton:

Would it be all that hard to do a quick swap over on the lines and go for a fang?

Do a quick check and make sure the fuel line near the pump isn't crimping.

I think xclnt6 had that problem.
