I'm just curious about what happens once you have a custom tune to suit the larger injectors, will it run rich with the factory tune because the bigger injectors will flow more at any given pulse width/duty cycle than the stock injectors? Or can the ecu cope with the difference via the 02 sensor? Thanks in advance,Steve Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/19624-edit-question/ Share on other sites

Do you just have a sensible, ie: 200rwkw tune for when it goes to the dealer & insist that they don't reflash it?cheers,Steve Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/19624-edit-question/#findComment-286307 Share on other sites

Well, you could, but it will run extremely rich.Usually what happens is slot 1 will be a stock calibration reprogrammed to suite the bigger injecters I.e. the car should drive like it did stock.Slot 2 and 3 will be for your other programs e.g. 8 psi and 10 psi. I thought that I read a post from Street Tuner stating that the box came with 3 tunes. 1 for the 8 psi tune 2 for the 10 psi tune and 3 could either be a velet tune or a stock 6 psi tune that is modified to run when larger injectors are fitted to you car. When you order your box you can ask them for this option if you have larger injectors. Steve might pay to ring capa and see if you can send the box back and have this option downloaded into it.macka Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/19624-edit-question/#findComment-286366 Share on other sites

Putting big injectors in will obviously flow more, but the amount of compensation by the ECU will need to be more in the order of 40 - 50% which it can't do, hence it will run at it's max 5% compensation and still run Uber rich.
