Guest mercurysteve Guests Posted 21/08/05 03:21 AM Share Posted 21/08/05 03:21 AM much better than an Edited T? I'm curious about that as a straight line comparo (excl braking etc). But compared to a modded XR6T they have nothing on them in my opinion. I'll be stuffed if I know how corty managed that 13.2, I reckon he must have a pretty good one. Basically the same engine with the F6 running slightly higher boost from the factory. Best way to compare the two would be to run a T with 8 psi map loaded against the F6. Would be close I think. My money would be the T though. Just because of the torque reduction.macka Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/19560-finally-went-for-a-ride-in-a-phoon/#findComment-284943 Share on other sites

Posted 21/08/05 04:45 AM Share Posted 21/08/05 04:45 AM With the F6 you are looking at a motor that has been 'beefed' up to handle the higher torque and would outlast a modded XR6T motor. If you are planning on unloading the XR6T after 18 months or so then value wise it would be the better option, but if you plan on keeping the car for any length of time and insist on driving it hard then the XR6T will definately break before the F6 motor will.....IMHO.Also the F6 motor would handle modding for alot longer too. Sure a beefed up T will show an F6 the door, but mod up the F6 with the same $$ and the tables are turned right back around. They're both great cars, stock or modded. My 2c. I think he just has alot of experiance when it comes to launching manual turbo cars. Personally, I doubt it. Both cars modified will get the same treatment, so how will a modified Typhoon be better(or more powerful) than a modified T?Eg. both cars would run an Edit. both cars would get Bosch 968's both cars would get a bigger intercooler.(yes, even the phoon) both cars would get Walbro fuel pump. The Phoon I believe is also a bit porkier than the T.
