I cant believe they did almost nothing to the body,

My thoughts exactly.

Thought the next model variation would have some different body cues than what looks to be a simple change in front bar (spose haven't seen any rear pics yet), seems to be something like the EF-EL upgrade.

Spose cant improve on perfect right :spoton:

Ford Grunt.

l reckon its a great move by Ford. no doubt there will be subtle changes in the rear, but they have choosen to pump the no doubt limited budget into serious engineering changes. l am really impressed with the revised 6 with independant VCT and a 6 spd auto. that's a damn impressive spec. The BF XR6T is going to be one wicked drive for a stockie :nono:

I'd like a bit more info (I think we all do) where do we get it?  Anyone know the gearing for the 6 speed auto (I hope it's got a really short 1st gear, is that to much to ask?  not like the six speed manual I hope)

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

ZF 6HP26 six-speed auto

1st gear ratio 4.17

2nd gear ratio 2.34

3rd gear ratio 1.52

4th gear ratio 1.14

5th gear ratio 0.87

6th gear ratio 0.69

Reverse 3.4

Final Drive

Barra 190 – Falcon: 2.73

Barra 230: 2.53

Barra 245T / Boss 260: 2.73

Barra 190 – Territory: 3.46

There was talk of manual cam advancement being tried by Red cliff Dyno with the RCD piggy-back. Don't know if they ever got it to work?

Maybe the Ford guys were thinking along the same lines.

Good to see the N/A get somthing for a change, an extra 8kw would put a smile on the face of any N/A 4L owner.

It'll be good to see some of these BF mount the rollers on a dyno and see what the power loss through the new gear box is like.

Im happy to see a new car that dosn't seem to have the ability (on face value) to stuff the resale of the BA, keep in mind what the BA did to the AU. :kissmy:

Good work Ford.

Come on Ford Show me....

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

yeh, I emailed and said they better not have stuffed the taillights up!!!!

There's mention they've changed the taillights a bit, I hope for the better. Not to sure about the foglight surround on the XR, will need to see it in the flesh.

I think there are 2 types of alloy designs for the new BF XR range.

I just saw on webwombat

http://www.webwombat.com.au/motoring/news_...d-falcon-bf.htm

XR6 – a five-spoke, 17-inch alloy wheel with a bold ‘Tuning Fork’ design (standard on XR6 and XR6 Turbo sedans and Utes, and XR8 Utes).

XR8 – a five-spoke, 18-inch alloy wheel with an aggressive ‘Boomerang’ spoke design and machined ‘Boomerang’ features on the spokes (standard on XR8 sedans, optional on all other XR variants).

Hey, I'm still looking for info on the new interior fabrics and/or trims. Is Plexis still around or has Ford come to their senses and introduced something a little less eye challenging...

I spoke to City Ford Melb today and asked them about tracking the build of my Silhouette XR6T which I'm hoping will be a BF rather than a BA when it is delivered in Nov. They reckon that I need a SIDO number to track it. Said I should talk to Ford CRC so I did. They were helpful about telling me about what they could tell me if I had the SIDO, but could not actually help me about my particular vehicle. Have any of you tracked the build of your cars after ordering through a dealer? A mate of mine reckons all I have to do is ring the dealer, but when I did that, they said sorry, do you know your SIDO... I've also seen photos on the Internet of people having photos of their cars along the assembly line (don't know if you have to pay extra for that...)

Also, speaking to the Ford CRC today, they were very tight lipped about anything about the new BF. Like, I asked him if they were in production on the assembly line yet, generally speaking, to meet their delivery date into dealerships in Oct. He would not tell me, but said that they generally take 4-6 weeks to build (XT I think, he alluded that an XR6T may take longer but wasn't specific). So that means they would have to be very close to starting the production assembly line for the BF to meet an end of Oct dealer delivery. He also said that they actually don't start taking orders for the BF until they hit the dealerships I.e. launch, so that's making me worry a bit that my order won't turn up as a BF. Not too much though because I like the BA shape (esp. the front end). But I would not mind having the new ZF 6 speed auto, the additional Nm and the hinted bigger brakes (but I am not sure if the bigger brakes are only for the Fairlane and not the XR6T).

Evildaifu,

Sounds like normal dealer bullsh*t, the dealer gives you your SIDO and can track the cars progress from it. Pathetic that they spew such crap :spoton:
