Posted 22/08/05 10:46 PM Share Posted 22/08/05 10:46 PM From all the pictures I have seen so far, I think the premium interior center console is standard on the XR range...So it seems that there is going to be premo sound for everything XR and above (xr6/t/8, fmont/ghia, terry xls/ghia and the LTD's)...The reason I think this is because even in the pre press release photo's for the BA range, it always had the typical "[falcon model] shown with leather and premim audio [optional on blah blah blah]" You know, the typical "you probably wont get this, but you could if you wanted to" blurb.None of the new photo's, from any site, are showing one of those disclaimers on any model showing premo sound. So far I've seen the XR and normal fairmont interior, from a number of angles, showing the premium console...Food for thought.
Power The 'nice guy' Donating Members 314 Member For: 19y 8m 24d Gender: Male Location: Sydney (Area around Ryde) Posted 22/08/05 11:12 PM Share Posted 22/08/05 11:12 PM The big question that should be asked is how much grunt can the ZF handle before it goes bang. Its rated at 600nm, how much further can it go past this and for how long, and if it does goes bang how much is a rebuild. I'd say it would probably be at least 4-5K. Can they be modified to handle more power, or would you have to buy the 775nm version available in the V12 BMW's, and could you get one for less than 10k. I'm waiting to see what the answer will be as I have the choice between a BF GT or F6. If the F6 can't handle more than 600nm you're pretty much limited to an edit and that's it. I would at least like to have have edit, injectors and exhaust. An edit, exhaust, CAI, underdrive pullies etc on a GT would keep it under the 600nm torque rating and ensure the trans would live a long life. Are they also used in the BMW M3 (6cyl version) and new M5 (v10)? Any idea?I've heard of problems with these boxes in both cases and know a driver of both cars quite well.EDIT: I'll ask him to get me the box types anyway next time I see him if no one knows. The 'sealed unit' issue also concerns me - no serious box mods possible? The V10 M5 has a seven speed SMG box, not sure what type the M3 is but as its a sequential manual gearbox I'd assume its not a ZF.Thanks for that! I was very interested in that one. I tell you so many of my mates are (rich pricks - lol) who drive high-end euro cars etc and it's really interesting to hear all the problems.I almost laughed my ass off when the M3/M5 guy was telling me about his gearbox problems and his knowledge of others with similar problems and the BMW response being about "within specification". Now how many times do we see posts about our beloved XR6T and Ford Dealers "within spec"? Seems no matter what you buy you are screwed! BMW quality eh? The stock 17 inch wheels look pretty plain. Taillights look just about the same as BA except the internal lenses are different and light up differently. I can remember seeing a 'new' Monaro in Adelaide about 6 weeks before it was 'officially' available.Lumpy

I think the front bar looks tuff, I like the GT shape they have applied and makes it look better for a cooler. Tail lights are slightly different... if you count the number of "ripples" across the lens there are more on the BA... but other than that I can't see the point. I like the look of the interior especially the boot on the auto, kinda makes it look more like a manual, however I still prefer the left leg work and freedom of a manual... I guess it's all about what your brought up with. I would LOVE to see the new chamelion colour in the flesh, I'm a big fan of funky paint ESPECIALLY on a car straight from the factory. This sort of paint work is usually out of financial reach for most people so it's good to see it applied at the factory, I think there should be more of it!Thumbs up to Ford I reckon, now lets see the faults that come standard
