Guest Guests Posted 16/08/05 12:05 AM Share Posted 16/08/05 12:05 AM I'd like to know this as well.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>me 3 as the only way I know is replacing the actuator with a new one or removing the factory control and replacing it with something better!!! The earlier it opens the more boost is bled off, reducing power. Ideally, you want the wastegate closed as long as possible, up to the point of maximum boost; you then want it opened as quickly as possible to dump the gas.I'll qualify my previous post: you could argue that if you run bigger wastegate you can run a bit higher spring pressure to reduce wastegate creep.Obviously external wastegates are far better, being much bigger than internal wastegates to remove gas much quicker, and enabling far better boost control. All serious turbos run these. One of the reasons why Electornic Boost Controllers have been popular over the past 10 years is because they help reduce wastegate creep.Brian

So how serious an issue is this wastegate creep for T's and how do you know if you're suffering from it if it's only a minor problem?

If it peaks, then gradually falls back, you need more spring tension.Either that, or hook it up to a boost gauge on a dyno, and check the boost mapping.
