The vlt still rules over the xr6 turbo

But I know for a fact that my car can run alot more power on pump fuel and in full street trim

Yes there are alot of 9 second vl turbos around but none of them can run that power on pump fuel and on the street I beleive the xr6 turbo will run 9's in full street trim something the vl cant do

I could be wrong but last time I saw PANNIC which to date has run a best of 8.96 @ 154 mph it appeared to be in full street trim and I was at Clader when the bresciannis got that time.

I have to say something about the quality of the VL... for a 20 year old car we are seeing fully functional factory parts pumping out reliable HP figures to this day. As for my XR... well I have a new gearbox, new radiator and still need a new diff, rotors replaced, ICC problems and some camber issues that just can't be fixed without inserting extra bits of metal. My mates VL has had some dicky electronics with his windows and some body rust... but that's it!! Still going strong after 20 years! I wonder what my XR will be like in 18 years time...

Isn't that because the VL Turbo uses a Nissan Motor? the transmissions are probably Borg Warner - like everything else - or Nissan. Unfortuntely the Japs still have the best quality control in the world - better than anything anybody else seems to pump out, including Germany.

I had a 92 XR8 Falcon until recently - 13 years old - and that was a fantastic car. 250,000 k and still going strong. So... yes maybe you have had some issues, but there are mistakes in all cars, and lots of good ones in all makes as well.

I for one think the VL Late model camira is ugly, and has a tacky interior. It doesnt look modern, or like a classic. But... each to their own.

that's why the calais looks nice, cos it has a different interior and the outside is finished off nicely too front to back. I see plenty of sh*tty looking commos but most of the calais' that I have seen are in pretty straight condition.

The tranny I'm pretty sure is the same as the VL in the autos at least. Open diff though *yuk*

The point is, there shouldn't be mistakes in all cars, shouldn't be in any cars but for a car that is 20 yrs old I'm pretty impressed. And I am NOT a fan of commodores at all...

You have to expect faults in any mass produced car, you should see the amount of issues Expensive Daewoo is having with the VZ!! :blink:

The majority of these should be worked out in the warranty period but only time will tell!
