I've just spent two weeks in a hypobaric chamber with some of your competitors making XXXmethanebiofuel.

Not a pleasant experience at all!

Is that in NZD? Doesn't $1.50 NZ = $0.50 AUS? :ielh:

You would think that was about right with how prices seem to inflate between leaving Aus and being sold here!

I am sure this Biofuel has been available in QLD for ages or they BP might of pulled it off the market?.Some feedback coming out of the marine industry as they where the guinea cops that the fuel has a very adverse effect on poor quality fuel lines or rubber orings not been made from Viton. There was abit of a uproar with all the big cruisers running on petrol kicking the bucket,Abit like the new Diesal introduced that was eating all the orings in the fuel distrubiter pumps.Depending if the manufacture used good quality stuff you should not have problems.

I could not see or feel any performance loss in my T on the drive back to NSW but lost around 95km on the return trip?.

I am getting feedback slowly that the fuel leaves behind quite big deposits on your injectors which is hard to remove compared to say BP or Shell normal premium.Just means you will have to get your injectors cleaned and filters replaced earlier for peak performance.

I cant see this as a bad idea as will get the local sugar industry up and running again as Australian industry needs all the help it can get at present.Next thing you will hear they will subsidize this coming out of South America.

Bio-fuel is definitely here to stay....

As cost of fossil fuel oil escalates, the cost effectiveness of ethanol based fuels improves. Currently the ethanol industry (still in its infancy here in Australia) is given significant government subsidies to be able to compete with petrol.

What is really required, is the automotive manufacturers to design vehicles to run bio-fuel. The ethanol industry got a really bad rap a few years ago, as many unscrupulous discount fuel outlets were doping unleaded with high proprtions of ethanol and or toluene. Up to 30~40 % in some claimed cases.

It was having a serious detrimental effect on fuel lines, fuel tanks and other fuel components including seals. The RAA, and NMRA and other motoring bodies made the public aware that there were issues with ethanol, and the petrol manufacturers pumped up the hype to scare public sentiment away from a real competitor.

It has been established, that 10% ethanol is unlikely to cause problems in modern cars, and there is now legislation to ensure that NO more than 10% additives can be retailed at the bowser. Legislation also requires that the bowser pumps are CLEARLY labelled to identify that it is a bio-fuel with not more than 10% ethanol mix. It will take a bit of time for the public to reaccept ethanol.... but the cheaper price certainly makes them notice.

I for one, believe its good for Australia to be able to derive an alternate fuel source from a local renewable resource... be it sugar cane, barley, wheat, what ever. The real benefits will arise when engines and fuel systems are properly engineered to run on higher concentrations. Then the industry will take off.

Keep your ears on fledgling ethanol production companies, such as AAE, as they could be the next MICROSOFT stock to get into if ethanol is used as the primary fuel source in vehicles.
