Hi all, I am going to ask what most of you probably think is basic, but what does a custome tune involve once you have the edit installed. What is the basic difference before and after the custom tune

Thanks :laughing::spoton:

a custome tune basically suits the edit PERFECTLY to your car rather than one tune being loaded to all edits and being put onto every different car out there.. who knows what your aif/fuel ratios are doing atm, they could be way out for example!

custom tune just makes sure everything is perfect and you get the most out of the product. DEINATELY a must do for all edit owners.

I agree with troughy to a point. Custom tuning is by far better than running your car with the standard maps, however, it's not mandatory.

The standard tunes in the flasher are relatively conservative. They would have to be, as the the suppliers know that the cars being flashed are all going to be different. Basically, what ford does at the factory floor but at a slightly higher state of tune.

This not only leaves room for the differences in each car/engine, but also leaves scope for custom tuners to extract the best out of our cars.

I ran the standard 10PSI map in my car for 6+ months. The car was fine, went much better than standard, and was never in danger due to poor AFR's or pinging. The only precaution I would suggest as mandatory, is a dyno run of the car before and after flashing. This will assure the owner of AFR's etc.

Basic differences between standard map and custom tune?

The custom tune is smoother and gives me more power.

With the EDIT and custom tune, does it still pull timing when the motor senses detonation?

As my TSI doesnt and with my aggressive mid range, some days it pulls like a freight train with no ping and the next day I can hear it ping even with the radio on so I know its bad.

Brett.

Based on my understanding, all the factory protection is still there. Knock sensing and timing adjustments due to increases in intake charge temps. :tease:

Can anyone advise how much the custom tuning costs in addition to the cost of the Edit Flasher ...that is custom tuning for each of the available maps?

Cheers,

Dingah

everything the car done before the edit wont change.. unless YOU changed it. that's whats so good about the edit!

well not entirely true!

if you have the latest reflash and the base tune that the tuner has modified is an old flash then you may reintroduce ford flash fixed issues:

flash one from ford hunts at idle for example

flash two from ford nolonger hunts at idle for example

if the tuner has flash one as a base and makes no change to idle then it will now hunt again as in flash one once edited
