IT'S news whenever the model letters change on a new Falcon.

But with BA Falcon sales running out of puff, the next series – to be revealed next week – is a much-needed arrival.

Few details of the facelift are available yet, though a European-sourced six-speed automatic for the V8, turbo and luxury cars is likely.

Even the letter designation remains a mystery for the car, which goes on sale in late October, though we know it won't be BA Mk III.

heres the link..

ldont think it really matters whether its called a BA mk 3 or a BD but l hope the decision not to call it a mk3 and to give it an all new code is because of the changes made being substantial.

Not long to wait l guess

BB???? Either way, it will be an update of sorts and will mean the 6-speed across the FPV range and maybe for the T as well.

Wouldn't suprise me. After all Ion has gone bust. Gearbox supply will be at best woeful. Lack of transmissions could completely shut ford down if they wanted to continue using the 4 speed.

ZF 6 speed standard on the entire range. Has a nice sound to it. I also hope they add ESP standard to the entire range.

Slice some Kg's of the kerb, improve NVH, improve economy, improve performance.. The falcon REALLY needed this gearbox.

You've got this all wrong, ION in Albury are in no danger of closing and have a contract to supply Ford with 4 speed autos to 2007. The parent company was put under recievership but there are no supply problems.
