Hi all............

I have a problem with engine flutter on acceleration when cold :spoton: ... as far as I know McCarroll told me that they did the computor software update on the first visit that I took the vehicle to them.

if anyone knows of the fix or what the prob could be, please let me know.

any advice will be taken on board

If your engine flutter is what mine has gone thru then you have problems...cause mine does it badly around corners at low speed when accelerating(especially when cold)....it has been into Ford over 8 times and also I have had Geelong ford technicians look at it.

They have now said the problem is the tyres and have asked that I replace the tyres at my expense...even though they are roadworthy.

I have sent the issue to Ford Australia and asked for their formal response cause they cannot fix it.

Their response is...we have done everything but we think your tyres should be replaced....God knows why.....I am awaiting for their response in writing cause I am not happy.

Anyway...I have had the following replaced to date..speed sensors....radiator...pipes...computer...abs...traction control..pump, brakes. I have also had two computer software updates and this did nothing

So I would be keen to hear what the exact problem you are experiencing is...cause Ford advise no other car has this problem.

Just for your information I am presently trying to get my car problem sorted out thru the media cause Ford are no longer interested.

Cheers & best of luck !

Ray

Sounds lijke you have worse probs than me Ray.... by far, but I will keep an eye on mine and see what gives. I hope that ford can give some kind answer to these problems, as I for one do not want to regret buying my baby.

I'll keep a watch out for your article.

good luck on that one

I have exactly the same problem but have not taken it to Ford yet.

I park my T on a sloped driveway and if I don't let it warm up for a couple of minutes it almost stalls when I go to take off - in an auto. And if that doesn't happen my first corner (30m down the road) will result in a big hesitation before it takes off.

I would expect the same sort of behaviour from a 30 year old escort - not my T.

Should take this up with my dealer....might get a new radiator, brakes...........

I wouldn't advise getting all the new bits that my car has had...cause it does not fix it.

The ford guys are adament that it is a traction control issue, not a motor or similar issue.

Have alook at your traction control light when it starts stalling. Also check to see if the problem happens when you have traction control turned off.

Anyway...I hope for you it is not what my car has cause Ford are very un-interested in it, and also no one is going to buy my car with its service history and the way it runs.

Best of luck, and don't take any Bullsiht from your dealer.

Cheers RAY

Thanks for the advice Raymondo.

Except for heavy rain/hail, I always turn TC off as soon as I start the car. I have found the TC to be very dangerous when combined with my driving style - car dies in the arse at exactly the wrong moment.

I reckon it feels like an electrical fault

Going a bit OTT

Do you have problems with the electric windows in the morning when it is cold? Mine have a fit when I try and use them. Same solution as stalling - warm it up a bit and try it again.

Hi Brett.....I agree with your words EXACTLY...and even my wife agrees and she hates the C bomb !

Hi Matt, of my 23 warranty claims (excluding normal services) to date none have been the electric windows.....but fair to say I have had everything else break or not work.

Cheers

RAY

PS....I gave the guys at Herrord Sports in Melbourne a call today and they reckon they can fix the problem...so before I go totally Fu_ken bananas I am going to give to them to have a go at...

I dropped the car at Herrod and they advised that the car stalling and farting has nothing to do with the tyres.

Anyway they drove the car and tested it.

The fix was to replace the plugs cause they reckon this was the problem.

I picked the car up and it appears to be running better and no farting or stalling with traction control on.

My wife drives it during the week and she reckons it is heaps better, but I will test it this weekend with a few donuts and corner accelerations.

For anyone that is interested I will advise.

Cheers

I think it was me in the heat of the moment. I rang the tv station and got the contact details and was going to send thru the details but it just didn't sound that sexy or concerning. I couldn't see Ray Martin talking about an old ford that farts around corners.

So as usual my mouth is bigger than my actions.....so I took the car to herrord....I will cross my fingers that it is fixed.

Cheers

RAY
