What does Mal Wood do to make the driveline smooth?

Anyone had it done, how much $'s and how much improvement?

So far there's close to 1/2 each way for MkII manual vs MkIII auto...

This is killing me, I love manual cars, but I've driven the ZF 6 speed in a Jag and yummy!

Argh!

one thing to consider with any subaru is the new "corporate face" design which has just been released on the impreza and forester will also appear on the liberty, meaning the liberty you buy now will be considered outdated in the not-to-distant future which may effect resale values. and I dont think subaru's are known to have good resale anyway (a shame really, because there a great car).

the madza sound like an interesting car, but I have the strange feeling that its going to be a bit soft.

as has been said, if you want a manual, buy the phoon now. if you want the auto wait till oct for the auto phoon (someone correct me, but has ford guaranteed the mk111 phoon will come in auto?).

my 3 cents.

Well I'd say the trick for yourself is to drive both (If you can live out the wait...)

You'll probably get an idea of your favorite very quickly, especially if you get a good dealer that will let you go for a long drive with your choice of route...

Ask them....

Apparently they sourced exactly where the clunk was in the driveline, and fixed it... There is no slack from the engine to the input shaft and very little through the box itself (un noticable). The clunk is somewhere between the gearbox and the wheels... It might be a clunky diff, it might not be; either way, they will be able to fix it.

Drop them a message.

I commented to ford at my last service (45k) about a clunk in the diff, and when I picked it up they said the fault was in the tailshaft itself and they had relaced it under warranty.

Well if the rumours about Ford doing their product release briefings on the new falcon next week are true... then I'll find out the facts next week...!

So far the current MkII F6 Manual is looking good, but will hold my judgement for a week until I find out about this briefing... :yumyum:
