enjoy :gooff:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

had a quick look at this edition yesterday, not very good reading from a ford prospective.

xr6t failed to finish, gt was abhorent, xr8 figures were a cut & paste from previous edition, f6 finished fourth in group. the professional steerer was (bates) really had nothing complimentary to say about ford's finest.

When are people going to realise, BFYB is just that. It's not often a big family car with a big motor is going to win it. STI/EVO are pocket rockets. They are designed to go fast in a straight line and around corners. The Falcon is an adaption of a family car to cater for all needs of a 'family man'. Geez..

Honestly, If all we wanted to do was go fast, cheaply, we would buy a lightweight turbo... But how many kids/boogie boards/suitcases can you haul long distance comfortably in an STI?? horses for courses..

It's like asking Ian Thorpe to win every single event at the olympics, it aint gonna happen. He does what he does, and he does it really well. Yeah, he can go in short course events, but he aint built for that..

We are just lucky we can make the Ford somewhat of an allrounder, and keep the wife/family ( if you have them ) happy at the same time as having a quick car aswell..

I for one don't get hung up on the fact Motor don't think my Barge of a ute will win BFYB, I didn't buy it to impress them.. ( just the tax man!... )

end rant.

BTW, I do like the STI, and the EVO, great cars, and either will be my next purchase, when the need for a ute ceases.. Foon may get a look in too..

whaddya mean - 'failed to finish'....!!

Failed to start more like it.  What are these Ford bozzos thinking !!!

Maybe next time, put the car over a pit and give her a check over before submitting to the wolves.

rant over.....  too upset !

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

ahmen to that, that's why I mentioned that I had only flicked thru the article & then flicked the mag on the coffee table in disgust.

here's some quotes from motor..

don't you think theirs a pattern forming??

"It was a similar story for the XR8 which sports similar handling and tactile responses apart from an even more pronounced lack of grip at both ends. That much explains why it was nearly a second slower around Wakefield than the GT (1:13) and seemed like a real non-event thanks to its reluctance to turn in or tell you anything about it when it finally did. Sure the XR8's acceleration times seem faster than the GT, but there are two reasons. The GT was down on power, while the XR8's time was established on the 'All Aussie' test at a different track."

"The FPV GT was one of the biggest disappointments. We've driver much, much fitter GTs and if this one was really packing 290kWs, it sure hid it well. It felt like it had eaten a big meal and wanted to lie in the sun for a couple of hours. We'll resist the urge to use any further canine metaphors regarding the FPV. ... The trip around Wakefield was characterized by the lack of accuracy from the front and and an absence of convincing power-down out back."

"The Typhoon was always going to be an interesting exercise. With 270kWs, it falls somewhere between the XR8 and GT but the F6's 550Nm stuffs the others rigid. ... Only trouble is, it ain’t that fast on the strip. Sure, 5.71 for the first 100km/h isn't hanging about, but it's 14.01 for the 400m puts it behind the XR8. So what's going on? Mainly, the Typhoon is a bugger to launch.

Has anyone been watching that pommie show "Top Gear"

I fell in love with the SLK on there, but the last episode of the season featured a Vauxhill (Holden) Monaro, and they raved about it!!

They had a professional drifter from Japan come and take it for a spin, and it did look mad I must admit!

I feel compelled to write to Top Gear and get them to rate an XR6T... but then again, they put the convertible porsche on the Uncool wall, so who can trust em LOL

Just thoughts....

Its subtle yet destroys all in its path. What did the supercharger whine sound like from inside?

Hard to hear the blower at all.

Back to the topic of the E55, the down low torque in 1st, 2nd and 3rd was brutal theres realy no other way of putting it.

Its hard to compare vehecles when dollars are so un-even but when you spend a lot you get a lot and the E55 is one fast son of a b**ch. The only way I can rate an E55 is against other vehicles Ive been in or driven at there limits.

AMG E55 Vs Stock XR6, XR6T, GT = E55 by a mile.

AMG E55 Vs my XR6 on NOS = E55 by a good margin.

AMG E55 Vs Supercharged XR8 = close result but its the way the E55 does the job without all the carrying on and with a tracktion control built for the job.

AMG E55 Vs Spiro's APS test mule = much the same as the blown XR8 but I wouldn't put money on the E55 getting over the line first.

Giving it to a AMG E55 is like going to war with a dinner suit on, all hell could be going on around you but you'd have no idear.

Remember that jack ass that was pulled over doing god only knows how fast and said to the cop, "Im late for lunch with the Prime minster". That fools baristor reasoned with the Beak saying his cliant had no idear how fast he was going because the car he was driving was so good it made him oblivious to his speed.

At the time I saw that on TV I thought "Bull sh*t", but now I can begin believe that crap a little more.

So when your doing the trip from Syd to ACT and you get flogged by a high end Benz or BMW with DC plates fell sorry for the ass hole, they realy have no idear what their doing :spoton: .

You missed the one from page 91, "mid corner bleed" where with the help of there V-Box they discovered that the reason the Ford's get flogged by Holden's at the track is because they have no mid corner speed. How bad is it? Well with a quote like "in fact, the fastest Ford at that point on the circuit was the Focus!" means it's pretty bad I reckon. :spoton:
