Also there is a Herrod Flash ( Cappa Pretty Much ) on Ebay going for $400 atm

You say "pretty much" the same as CAPA - anyone know exactly what the differences are between the CAPA Flash and Herrod Stealth boxes (apart from the obvious looks, of course!)? :gooff:

Installed generic 8psi tune whilst still at Chipmaster. Boost seems to start later and peak later (say 2500 and 4000 instead of 2000 and 3500). Couldn't really pick the difference until I was on Tonkin Highway and opened her up in third - that's when I felt the 2psi difference!

I don't plan to get a custom tune for a few months yet - any tips for maximising fun with generic tunes?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Have you tried the 10PSI map?

Planning on visiting Hyperdrive to see what gain the 8PSI map has given you?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Nah Daniel suggested it but asked if I had Ultimate 98 in it - but the last time I flled was with 95 RON so I left it with 8psi. Also, I believe you need to regap the plyugs for the 10psi map. I'll try it soon though....

Has anyone had a glitch free "plug and play" with the standard 10psi map?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Fill it up with BP 98 and load the 10psi :spoton:

The base tunes are pretty conservative and at worst you may experience some surging and or breaking down at maximum revs in which case regap the plugs.

When your ready get some bigger injectors and get a custom tune.

In the meantime stick it on the dyno just to ensure that AFR are in order

Oh and BTW well done getting the flasher for the price you did. :spoton:

Its funny though, you only ever hear of the worst cases with the generic tunes on here....

You'll probably find that there are more happy customers out there with the generic tunes than not... You just don't know about them, its probably more like 80 - 20 infact.

The AFR's for the generics are fairly conservative, and the tunes themselves are similar to stock, simply without torque reduction and more boost.... The reality of it is, not that much can go too wrong...

Like I said, we hear the horror stories, not the good ones...

I'm pretty happy with the standard 8 psi tune - equal driveability to the Ford tune.

ZMAN has come up with the $ for the 2nd unit.

DCVIN is looking for someone to go halves (sorry mate feel bad that you found the deal and I jumped ship with the first person that came up with the $), Interested members are:

Gavin K,

tur

troughlolly and

NOS XR

There's bound to be some matches there.

Should still be 6 left. Suggest you get together and snaffle them. Daniel at Chipmaster will take direct deposit and looking at the interest here I don't think there's much risk in getting 2 as you'll always offload the other 1.
