Does anyone know what the cost involved in adding the factory turbo setup to a n/a falcon? (or if it is even possible?)

I have a fairmont ghia and definately want to keep the car but want some more go. Any ideas?

I ahve investigated the CAPA supercharger setups but want to know if adding the factory turbo setup will be cheaper than the $6+ k for the supercharger setup.

You could buy a Turbo car - transplant the two motors - and sell the Turbo as an XR6. Not sure how much you would lose doing that. The only additional mod to do to the old T is pull off the Turbo badge.

Got to wonder if trading your Fairmont Ghia on an XR6T with a full luxury pack might be your best bet?

Fairmont seats are not the sporty type - more comfy, and they have memories dont they?

I would be picking the sunglasses holder in the roof, oh yeh footwell lighting!

You dont get the XR lights

You get boring old man wheels

Probably no limited slip diff

Suspension softer?

The XR6T is with custom pack is definately more me - doesnt mean it is for this fellah though.

definately want to stick with the GHIA.

It has got the LSD and as it is the "Sports Luxury" model it has the exact same suspension as an XR6. Also you cant beat he Dual zone climate control.

Anyone else know about factory turbo fitment to a N/a six?

There is absolutely no doubt that it can be done. But transplanting the factory set up would be costly. I reakon the best way to go about it (if you dead keen) is to build up the parts over time. For example keep track of the serious tuners and scavenge their parts. ie u should be able to track down an exhaust manifold from someone. The turbo is expensive off the shelf but again I have seen some big aftermarket turbos fitted so try and scab their original. I saw a standard intercooler on ebay for $200 the other day. Piping could also be sourced from the serious gurus who replace theirs. Just hunt and buildup....that way you wont have to fork out heaps at once!!!!!

I have a full stock turbo exhaust if you chasing parts.

Just a suggestion Travis - but have a look at an XR6, XR6T or XR8 at a dealers with the full Custom interior pack - you might find that is more similar to the Fairmont than you think. They come with very nice leather and swede trim, the same dashboard and dual climate as the fairmont.

There are some things missing that you have:

- wooden trim steering wheel (swappable)

- chrome piece above rear number plate

- memories on seats etc.

But actually are very similar, I think Ford have done this to give an XR buyer basically the same level of trim as a Fairmont Ghia - or go one step further and look at a Typhoon.

Hmmmm. :smilielol:

The more I think about it the more I like the idea. Aftermarket turbo and headers. Plenty of dumpipe options and it should'nt be hard to find a stock exhaust pretty cheap. Hell Herrods just chuck em out the back and crush em up if you don't want to keep it.

Should be able to bypass all the bs ford have built into the T trying to stop you from increasing the power.

Probably work out to be a little cheaper than a SC kit

look forward to hearing what you decide. It's like anything else. If you've got enough of the folding stuff you can do anything.
