It was starting up again so I took it in. Ford said that because it was more than 2 times that I'd brought it in, rather than machine them again, they would put the new compound brake pads on. So far so good. Will let you know if the shudder starts up again.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Just wanted to let you know the brakes are still working fine without any sign of shudder after close to 2 weeks (not that it would show up this early anyway) but what I wanted to mainly say was that my front tyres really blacked up thick with brake pad dust. I'm guessing it's because of the pads and the new compound Ford are using in them. I've cleaned up the alloys and I'm wondering if this is going to be a continuous issue or maybe it's just part of breaking in the brakes (sorry for the pun ). I don't believe I've been driving any different since the new pads went on...<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Yep that's the problem I had with the new pads.after 50ks your wheels are black.I put the old pads back in now it dont stop

That's good, because I pick up my new XR6T on 15 November and I reckon Ford would be nuts if they did not get the new BF into COTY - especially since I just heard the F6 Typhoon does 0-100km/h in 5.3 sec! I just hope like anything it's the BF. So, I'm washing the XR6 and thinking fond memories. I won't be missing the brake pads though. I just did 4,400km on a road trip up to the Gold Coast and the pads are bleeding black powder all over the place - especially the driveway when I wash the car. It's getting to the point where I feel a little embarrassed about it and have this urge to wash the car really frequently. So, I'll be looking forward to the new brakes on the BF, if it's the BF I get. I'm still waiting for the SIDO number to turn up so that I can confirm for sure if I'm getting the new BF or an upgraded BA MkII (some of the structural changes for the BF will make it into the final run of the BA MkII I heard). Mind you, it's not the first time I've experienced this first-hand. My first car, a Toyota Corona got the same fault (brake fluid completely leaked away - so no brakes). When that happened, had to drive around using the gears to slow me down (it was a 5 speed manual) then use the hand-brake to bring me to a stop. At least with the XR6, it's not a complete failure. If I press hard enough I can slow the XR6 down to a stop. Feel a bit like Fred Flintstone... I'm sooo glad it did not happen whilst I was on holidays. That would piss me off big time. And I am soooo soooo glad I had the failure when I had to pull up from 60km/h and not 110 km/h!!! :cussing:Tell you what, I've had more issues with this XR6 then you can poke a proverbial stick at, but I still love the car... Had some good times in it, and some bad times...

Mine goes in tommorrow to get fixed under warranty (67000kms). Leading hand at local Ford delaer reckons it was because the floor mats in the car wasent letting the clutch to go all the way down. Fine that very hard to beleive. Being a car that drives around town mostly we never use 5th gear.CheersCowie

That's why my brakes went all soft as per my earlier post. Problem is there is a looong wait for the right part. Ford are out of stock and the part is on back order until 28 Nov. So a different part will be installed as a work around.

My new BF XR6T turned up, so I drove off in that instead...
