Guest CitricAcidSW Guests Posted 19/08/05 02:34 AM Share Posted 19/08/05 02:34 AM Interesting coments re the faults/problems you have experienced with your XR6T. Some of them are similar to mine.Brake shudder - Have had the car in 4 times to rectify this !!! Twice they machined the disc's, once it seemed that they did nothing and the last time they changed the pads. It seems OK for the moment.Diff - Sometimes I think that if I were to close my eyes and drive ( obviously not a smart move ! ) it would feel like being in a taxi ! The diff clunk is starting to get to me. Any suggestions for a fix ? Noise from front or rear brake/wheelarch area ? - When driving in carparks or anywhere next to a wall/barrier I can hear a noise as if something is intermittently brushing up agains the disc's (?). My fathers Falcon BA Sports has the same problem and I have heard it on someone's XR8. Anyone know anything about this ?Finally, when driving into driveways or over speed humps I am continuoulsy hearing a dull metal flexing type noise emanating from the right hand rear wheel area. I've had the car in four times for this too and Ford either never seem to be able to hear it ( yeah right ) or say that they have fixed it. Do a search on the forums and you should find plenty of references to it.Dan

Had dozens of other probs but the hairdryer makes it all good.

It was starting up again so I took it in. Ford said that because it was more than 2 times that I'd brought it in, rather than machine them again, they would put the new compound brake pads on. So far so good. Will let you know if the shudder starts up again. Also, that sticking drivers side window that took like ages to wind down completely (really annoying when you have to wind down the window to press your carpark pass against the detector) was also resolved. Apparently it is not an uncommon problem for the window mechanism to need lubricating. It was worse when there was a bit of moisture on the window (like on wet days or foggy mornings). So that's look good too.

She is otherwise sensational and I love her to death.

I'm guessing it's because of the pads and the new compound Ford are using in them. I've cleaned up the alloys and I'm wondering if this is going to be a continuous issue or maybe it's just part of breaking in the brakes (sorry for the pun ). I don't believe I've been driving any different since the new pads went on...
