Guest milanski Guests Posted 06/08/05 10:35 AM Share Posted 06/08/05 10:35 AM Hello everyone, I am seeking the help of someone who has a similar issue to that of mine and has a possible solution. These things are never easy to fix, but I thought I just try. My XR6T 6sp (luxury pack) is about 2 weeks old (1000km) I just noticed that with the music off (yeah I know it should never be off, but as we all know its the smallest details that always get us going) I hear a low frequency rattle coming from the trimming along the top of door. To be explicit, its somewhere from the top of the windscreen at the drivers seat all the way to the seat belt attachment. This sound is not evident on smooth roads (not many of these around), so on an uneven or bumpy road the sound is heard. It sounds like interior roof lining is rubbing with the door rubber seal. But im not sure and dont wont to start pulling things apart. Ford like usual have not been able to help. Ill keep you posted on my results, but in the meantime if anyone has incurred such petty and frustrating noise from this area of the vehicle just let me know what was done to remove it.Kindly, milanski Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/19274-interior-noise-eliminators-wanted/ Share on other sites

ZAP No boost, no bottle, just my foot on the throttle! Lifetime Members 7,935 Member For: 21y 4m 3d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 08/08/05 03:49 AM Share Posted 08/08/05 03:49 AM I think that ford installed a decent sound system to coverup the noises.I would suggest you turn the radio/CD on and put the volume to atleast level 11 to drown out the clunk/whine or whistle. If you cannot accept this solution, then buy some rubber conditioner (Auto Store) and put some on the door seal, this should lubricate the rubber and stop the noise as there is not much else that could make that noise in that position.I would not let Ford touch it as they WILL make it worse. Guest milanski Guests Posted 08/08/05 01:18 PM Share Posted 08/08/05 01:18 PM I thank all of you for your comments.I don't really have the time and patience to see ford about this one, but I will show them at the 3000km service. I will try the rubber conditioner and let you all know of the results. Unfortunately I didn't read these comments until I put a thin coat of vasaline to stop the rubber from being tacky. This will be tested tomorrow. And later on tomorrow, the rubber conditioner. Music up is good answer, but you when you're listening to Stan Zemanek on 2ue of a night it just makes you even more frustrated hearing the rustle of the door trims ..... milanski (still trying to think of a moto) Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/19274-interior-noise-eliminators-wanted/#findComment-280463 Share on other sites

It semed to be coming from behind the dash or behind the cd player/radio. It was driving me mad and I was going back to get stuck into them about it. On my way there I had to adjust my revision mirror as it had been bumped. As soon as I grabbed it the bloody vibration stopped. Let it go and it would come back again so I made a slight adjustment to how it was sitting and have'nt heard it again.macka Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/19274-interior-noise-eliminators-wanted/#findComment-280473 Share on other sites
Guest milanski Guests Posted 09/08/05 01:06 PM Share Posted 09/08/05 01:06 PM Well im back after my trial with the vasaline on the rubbers. All it seemed to do is dampen the sound but it is still evident. On the up side it is no longer heard on relatively flat roads, but on bumpy roads like the one out at Denham Court (liverpool ingleburn way) it is just sustainable.Next step is the rubber conditioner as suggested by ZapXR6T.Macka, isn't it unbelievable that everyone seems to have these niggly issues and most of them (from other topics) are all different and related to various areas of the interior. Wouldnt you love to have a car which combined all these problems, there would be no amount of volume to drown out the frustration. Thank god for that.cheers milanski bed time Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/19274-interior-noise-eliminators-wanted/#findComment-280782 Share on other sites
