Howdy all,

Im wanting to install my King springs over the weekend and Im wondering if anyone has the diagrams and torque settings for the rear suspension?

Does anyone have a How-to made up?

If not, I guess ill just have to try and get the handbook off a ford employee.. hehe

Mate remove the rear wheels, undo the bolt that attaches the sway to the link pins on the lower control arms place a jack under the lower arm near the outside edge and than undo the outer bolt of the control arm and remove it.

Lower the jack down to remove the spring fit new spring in place and raise jack up.

I do not have the torque settings but the bolts should be done up tight.

Thanks mate! I thought it would be pretty simple.. Just didnt know how simple :)

The front is just like any other late model vehicle correct?

I helped my mate who is a Expensive Daewoo mechanic, this was the first XR6t he has worked on and he said I was one of the easiest suspension to work on, took us about 2 hour to do including stoping for lunch. Whilst u have your wheels off you may aswell paint your calipers, its only two extra bolts

The front is the problem, the strut/shock works in reverse to normal, remove it and it compresses (Not expands) so you need to be able to compress the front springs to get the top back on ! Otherwise you'll be in trouble !

umm youre contradicting yourself there.

Isnt the front as simple as removing the strut, compress the spring, unscrew top mounting plate, take off spring, compress new spring (with spring compressor clamps) and put on, screw the top plate back on, take off spring compressors and put strut back in.

Take the top three nuts off on each strut in engine bay take wheels off remove bolt for top ball joint remove lower strut bolt and push lower arm down and remove strut from vechile.

You will need to compress spring and remove top nut on strut.

Yeah that's what I thought Goldie.. The front end suspension is no different to my Magna when I was replacing the springs in that.

Well if all goes to plan and it doesnt rain on Saturday, I should have my car lowered by night fall :spoton:

You should however get a wheel alignment done afterwards, as the reduction in height will increase negative camber, and will pull the wheels out of line slightly - ie towed out.

There's no contradiction as far as I can see  There is the two parts, the spring and the strut.....

Earlier falcons struts expanded to maximum when unbolted, the BA's struts when unbolted shrink (Pull in to minimum length) making the requirement to compress the springs a lot further to get the top back on.

But whatever..... as long as you have spring compressors you will work it out !
