The engine check light will only come on because of a Throttle body fault or TPS sensor fault ( So I'm told ). Check the two plugs that come off the TB to see if they are ok and connected well, and your TB is tight and not leaking

I might be able to hook up the Scan tool, I've been waiting for a fault code to pop up coz I have no idea if it reads them or not... I'll pull my TB sensor plug off and see if it reports it, then I'll let you know..

Thanks for the info..

My plugs are gapped.. simon did it and the whole reason I am trying to get this sorted is to get the edit on!

markxr6t - I am running the stock tune.. and centre ford actually upgraded it or something on monday when I took it in... didnt do anything.. Bayswater waves.. yer I am there 4 times a week or so! do you go there too?

I am thinking fuel pump as well.. simon did mention it was cutting out when he tried to tune it the first time...

Its booked into ford at 10 am monday.. They guy on the phone said that cause the light came on it should have logged an error code... if not fuel pump is getting changed..

I never have luck with cars! but I am glad I am on theses forums!!! ford anoy me!

I actually recorded what was happening with my phone.. the quality is soo bad dam nokia.. if not I would put it up for you guys to see... I do have my camera with me in the car now so when it happens again I am gonna record and email it to ford! :)

The odd thing was it was doing this before the exhaust and air filter etc... might just be a stuffed fuel pump. I actually held off doing anything because I wanted it sorted first... and dam ford said everything is A ok! so if they try blame a mod I have evidence that it was checked for this issue before any mod was put on!

Just as a matter of interest, how much fuel was in the tank?

The more power these cars put out, the more prone to fuel surge they are. Anything less than 1/3 tank of fuel will cause my car to surge on the 10psi program.

I had a simular problem with my old T under 3/4 throttle she would (sometimes) surge around 3500-4000 rpm. then she would get the shakes and have no power.

after you turn off and restart the engine its fine.....

Ford didnt know how to fix it, they reflashed the car and it went away.

2 months later after no problems I had the car edited, this caused a simular surge problem (not as bad) that was fixed with a plug regap to .9mm

I had this problem some time ago on stoke car.

ford did a reflash and touch wood I havn't had any problems since.

it was an over boost problem and my not have anything to do with what you guys are talking about.

car felt like it hit the rev limiter or traction control coming on usually happened on cold night giving it WOT in first and second.

hope that helps guys.

the only other thing I can think of is if you have the edit then take it back to your tuner. :crybaby:

Just a long shot, but its what I'd try - why don't you upload the 8psi tune from your edit box and see what happens? You definitely won't break anything and who knows, it may actually improve.

Personally, I don't think the generic CAPA tunes are any worse than the stock Ford tunes - probably better! Worth a try.
