I think that food stamps and other non cash handouts are a good idea. This would stop people using welfare to support drug and other addictions. I also think it's a good idea to make people earn their welfare. Prgrams that involve keeping Australia Beautiful could always use more people. If young males don't want to work, put them in the military. This way they could also learn a trade or similar. I don't think we should make those on welfare to comfortable, then there is more incentive to not be on welfare.

Geea.

Gee, this may surprise quite a few people but I agree to an extent with the Foodstamps and all that BUT heres the catch.

The ONLY was you can gaurantee that this is fair is if you enact price control and regulation (which by the by I agree with) but then you will have shop owners up in arms as well...

And as for this "If you can't find a job then MOVE" bullsh*t, Im sorry, but that is just bullsh*t. Sure, I COULD move to Sydney or Brisbane at massive expense to find a job in a cafe that pays under the award wage for longer hours because I "Don't have experience" or "I'm not educated enough"

2 words that will fix everything FLAT TAX Simple and effective, we overly complicate the current system and this leads to explotation and evasion. Australian's an the whole, seem to treat tax evasion as a sport, and although I am an active participant, on a moral level I don't agree. That said I will deduct, and bend the tax laws as much as I can.

I thoroughly believe that we pay too much tax. I have no idea what the NSW State Govt do with the massive revenue they receive but it is certainly not spent on infrastructure such as hospitals, public transport, TAFE colleges and the like.

Heck, even the water supply system is that run down they have constantly burst water mains.

I supported the GST because I know that the lumpen proletariat will ahve to pay tax for all of the takeaway food, cigs and alcohol they pump into their bloated parasitic bodies.

The biggest problem we face is that it is very hard to take something away from people once they have it. We are paying three levels of taxation to suport three levels of beaurocracy...get rid of local Govt as a starter.

Drastically cut tax and social welfare and bring in user pays.

The taxes in Commie NSW are outrageous!! Taxed for employing people, taxed for selling ahouse, taxed for taking out a loan, taxed for doing 120 in a 100 zone on a safe dual carriageway highway with a crash barrier seperating oncoming traffic.

The US has a good system for unemployment benefits. You can only be on the dole for a maximum 5 years of your working life. You can only be on the dole for 2 years at any one time. It is less than the minimum wage.

This is why their employment level is so high. The wages aren't great but they make it up in tips. Tips guarantee good service because if the service is crap there are no tips. ANYBODY, black, white, yellow or brindle can have financial success in the USA regardless of their education or connections to political parties. Both the Republicans and the Democrats have high ranking people of different racial backgrounds.

The ALP always have a social engineering agenda because it guarantees them a voter base. By sprouting forth welfare crap and toadying to the socialists and communists they will always have the votes.

Get rid of the welfare mentality and the mediocre standards and the ALP might just have a voter base that goes back to its roots of employees that want to have goals to aim for.

Australia could do with a good injection of funding for the ADF so that they could build a strong defence system with larger pools of soldiers and better equipment. That's where out tax money should be spent.

All these taxes :gooff: and to think, Tax is Greed and Greed is Capitalisim (with a big C) . Think about it, they screw you for every thing you're worth, whether you have money or you don't and then unblinkingly turn round and say it's for the greater good :k24t:

Gypsies, tramps and thieves. The :kissmy: lot of them.

And as for calling ANY state government in Australia 'Labor' (They don't even SPELL it right) They do about as much for the 'working man' and their puppetmaster big business bosses will let them.

Brendan.

PS:How ya going Plonky?

I was reading through this thread and thinking exactly the same thing. The C$A spends $4 for every $1 it collects. You blokes want to know where a lot of your tax dollars go, then look no further then the C$A bureaucracy.

On another note, anyone that is paying top dollar in tax should be looking for ways to minimise the amount of tax they pay. There are a number of legitimate ways around it.
