not being a sadist, but I have enjoyed reading your stories and looking back on my own. Obviously non of this was what anyone wanted, but as we all know sh*t happens. It's kinda nice to know I am not alone :glad: .

Different note, how bad are some of the fuggin dickwads in the automotive industry :glad: ? Then again, every industry has it's stories.

So if it's not too much pain for ya, keep em rolling in!

Years ago my then girlfriends parents had a brand new Nissan SomethingOrOther and left it at the dealers for its 1500k complementary service...

When they went to pick it up they were told it was totalled, turns out the mechanics took it for a hoon and rolled it.

They then tried to tell them they had to claim it on thier own (her parents) insurance. Took a solicitor and many months before they got a brand new car from them.

A bloke I used to work with had new tyres fitted at a different than usual place as his local joint was too busy. When he got it back (dont' worry only a Dunnydoore) it had a big vibration, took it back for a rebalance and noticed some wheel nuts on the floor in the corner. When they took his hubcaps off he saw that only 3 of the 5 nuts were there. They had sheared off 2 of the wheel studs and just kicked them into a corner and put the hubcaps back on as if nothing was wrong... :glad:

where do I start, I did my time (well 9 years) as an apprentice then mechanic at a prestigue garage in the eastern suburbs, you know the stuff Jags, beemers, mercs, porche etc.

possibly the worst thing I saw was my apprentice lowering a lamboghini on a four post hoist, it was backed onto the hoist as it was so low it would not drive up forwards, somehow inbetween me asking him to lower it and when it was approx 40cm off the ground he has managed to roll it forward (Re back towards the ramps) and now the front spoiler was located under where the ramps were about to position themselves!

moments after this I turned around to see the front spoiler of this 100k car get completely ripped off and broken into peices!

They worst thing was having to go and tell the boss that his brother in laws lamborghini had to visit the panel shop!!

Ermm...

When my BA was 2000 kms old I had the geniune alarm fitted and the guy who did it at the dealer didnt put shields on the guards to protect them when leaning into the engine bay, lets just say 2 scratches later and a very unhappy customer..

Dealer fixed the scratches properly for me and charged me about half price for the alarm..

Now however there is only 1 mechanic allowed to touch my car, if he is away then the car doesn't get worked on... I dont care having to take it back as I wont let anyone else at the dealership touch the car. This guy is brillant and basically a mate to me, was originally my service advisor and went back to being on the tools, he drives a Black XR6 T himself so he takes alot of pride in his work and customer cars

 My old boss had his barnd new Expensive Daewoo Jillaroo getting a bullbar and cargo barrier fitted.

When he rang in the afternoon to see if his new car was ready to collect they said...

"er um not yet.....its still at the pannel shop.. :glad: .."

The apprentice who was installing the cargo barrier was drilling the holes to mount it, as the drill bit went thru the inner roof panel it kept going and made a small hole in the roof....not once but 3 times. :glad:

When I was a mechanic, we had a work experience guy there. His parents had a VL commo wagon that was manual. We went for a drive to get lunch in the parents car.

He lost control and wrapped it around a telegraph pole. Luckly for me we were not injured, but the car was stuffed.

I found out that his parents had booked the car in for service, so all hell broke loose because it was a "clients" car. The work exp guy was a complete knob, as I had said 10 seconds before the crash to slow down as I could tell he could not drive. We were only 50m from the workshop.

I ended up copping some of the blame althought I had nothing to do with it. They wanted me to pay 50% of the excess, but I said to jam it in their

my mate is a second year apprentice at a Expensive Daewoo dealership and he is allowed to test drive the customers cars after he services them, at just 18 years of age I might add..!

Some of the things he has told me he had done are just unbelieveable and why he is allowed to test drive the cars is beyond me but on the other hand it makes me laugh because they are only holdens

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Sounds like the :spoton: monkeys at my work. I wouldn't trust them even to put air in the tyres.

So far I have been lucky with the XR and no damage though it's only ever been to 2 different workshops.
