Geesh, the rims (19" Fusion Shadow chromes) are just 2 days old and in they go with the car for 30k service.

All seems well, nice guy and all, clean workshop...

Pick up car, check three rims and they look good, keep talking to the guy and drive away....

....pull over to buy a DC (Diet Coke) and WTF :blink::nono:

3 " Scrape down the 4th rim.....

.... pull back into the workshop (trying not to go overboard (I.e. kill him instantly)) and he denies it at first then comes clean....

...end result was I'll wear the damage, he does my partners service (not sure if I should trust him again, sure it'll be o.k though) worth $400 for nix.

Any other such stories?

I have another, I'll see if the thread receives any interest before I post it though.

2 days old and farkin hell I'm annoyed. Oh well, sh*t happens I guess.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I won't use Ultratune anymore. They put too much gas in my aircon (some years ago in an older Ford) and then wanted to charge me many more dollars to fix it (blaming the Tx valve or something) An airconditioning shop down the road fixed it for free (just let some gas out)

It's not on a Turbo, but I had one such horror story on my old EF. Had brand new XR8 rims on, with new Yokohama A539s. Picked the car up from a service (from a Ford service centre), and drove off. Got home, and noticed a massive gouge out of one of the 5 spokes on one wheel. Didn't sleep much that night, as it was too late to go back that day.

Went back first thing the next day. Turns out they couldnt get one of the wheel nuts off, so the dude responsible, wait for it..... CHISELED IT OFF!!! No one mentioned a thing when I picked it up.

They ended up replacing the wheel totally, but only because my BS filter became full, which resulted in me almost breaking a seal. I mean, the gouge was huge!

Anyway, good result in the end, but only after fighting.

I had my 19 inch rim damaged by an idiot who's machine wouldn't remove tyres from 18inch + rims. He totally denied it, but as you could imagine, the claw on the tyre removal thingy(technical term there) obviously tried to grab the lip of the rim. Then on top of that, touched it up with some kmart quality superchrome spraypaint.

Steve, is he going to pay for repair? or replace whole rim?

Cheers,

Rob

that's even worse Rob, the fact that he tried to cover it up.

Yeah, he is paying for it because the rims worth $400 and so was the service I was booked for, so it cancels out.

Here's the kicker story.

I had a new S15 with 1000 back for service at Nissan. I had put 18" rims (which were huge back then, in 2000) on it, they looked great.

I pick the car up and drive to Maccas for late lunch, come back to my car to see BOTH passenger side rims damaged so badly, that they still had concrete dust on the tyres and rims brom the gutter contact that was made by them. The damaged area was greater than the undamaged area, yep, better than 50% of the wheels had been scrapped.

I just lost it when I got back to the dealer, completely lost the plot for a bit then calmed down a bit.

They confessed to the (wait for it)....APPRENTICE taking the car for an unauthorised drive!!!!!!!!!!!! :spoton::blink:

....in the end, they replaced both rims and appologised, not much else could be done really. What a disaster.

Pays to look your car over before AND after leaving it with service agents IMO.

Cheers y'all.

I was at a tuning shop years ago getting my Mini Cooper dynoed, and witnessed one of the mechanics using a customers MG Midget that was in for a service to transport someone elses engine to a machine shop. Nothing to protect the boot floor or anything - entire block and head laying in the boot of the car.

Sometimes I think workshops lose sight of the customers.

That's disgraceful. Imagine what goes on where theres no customers in site.

Speaking of unauthorised drives, I had my wife's Elantra in for a 90000km service in Canberra last year. When we picked it up I noticed some small black specks on the front guard and rearview mirror (I had washed the car the day before). I assumed it to be tar from new roadworks they had gone through on the test drive. Got home and went to wipe the specks off and on closer inspection found the inner guards coated in oil and shredded rubber and the tyres looking very second hand.

Took it in the next working day and of course all was denied. Perhaps it was my seven month pregnant wife who on the way home decided to throw some oil on the road and light em up!! Give me a break.

End result, after realising I was not going to let it go away, they paid for two new tyres.

It still pisses me that some maggot thought it would be a good idea to do this. And this was at a Hyundai dealership!!

Where do I start.

All of my damage has come from Fords service departments sadly. Im not going to say which one. They do a good job but can be a bit careless.

WHat they've done so far...

1). at 3000K service opened the drivers door onto a wall

2). When replacing faulty Dunlops, they scratched one of my rims with the tyres machine. Oh, and that tyre was put on the wrong way. "Mount This Side In" was on the outside.

3). THE BIG ONE!! When doing the wheel alignment they drove my car up the ramps and just about tore my front splitter off. They've had the splitter for 2 weeks "fixing" it. NHJ!!

And I’ll keep going there too because they aren’t bad people.
