Driving my T from work today I noticed that when I took of I heard what sounds like a truck reversing when I was driving slowly away. It sounded as though it was coming from the rear tires or Diff. As I got faster the sound was speeding up also, but when I got to around 50 it stopped. I stopped again for feul, had a look couldnt se anything but when I wemnt to drive off again it was there again.

Well I am confsed. So I had to stop off at a mates place, but when I went to take off again thinking if would do it agian, I heard nothing.

Anyones thoughts as to what it could be

Also my auto ghearbox is making me wonder if its ok

when downshifting to first it makes a it of a clunk sound, is this normal

I had a squeal in the back of mine once - but it was really constant, not like what yours is doing. It was there all the way from home to Sydney and didn't stop until I opened the boot and let the old bag out - the dragon! - the M-I-L!! :stirthepot::laughing:

Seriously though I'd be looking first to your brakes/handbrake.

ha classic I just wrote the same as tubo6man and then read his post!!!

Just dont let your wife/girlfriend drive it in the first place and you wont have the clunk and have to put her in the boot. Off to ford I'd say, and try for warranty.

I got a stone jammed inbetween the disc and backing plate once on my old Escort, and hit made a hell of a screem.

Looked under the car, everywehere, couldnt see anything.

Drove forwards for a while, lots of noise, not stopping.

Backed up - heard a clonk as something fell out - and there was a stone with a ground smooth side!

May be something as simple as this if you are lucky!

That is a possibility. That has happened to me twice now. I had an almighty scream from the front left wheel.....ended up at Expensive Daewoo and they found it to be a small piece of blue metal. same thing happened again about a year later and it took me about 2 hours to get the bugger out. As the rock was moving around in there, the noise would come and go.

I'd say they guy who did your brakes did a bad job................oh, hang on, that was me. :spoton: :spoton: :spoton:

But yeh, sounds like the handbrake needs adjusting. Take it to Ford, I just about live there.
