Well I finally bit the bullet and put me beloved T in for her 15k service (even went to real ford dealer ship too.) A few hours and minus $380 later I got her back... and went for quick spin! :smilielol:

However, scanning the invoice sheet I see the following entry

POL - Castrol XT10/30 :smilielol: ?

Umm call me stupid but isnt the T supposed to get a diet of 15/40 ?!?!?! I guess more importantly what can the wrong oil do to my beloved T's engine! :smilielol:

I would say they invoiced you wrong as a 15k service should never cost that much in the first place.

Did they invoice you for an Explorer?

My Ford dealer has standard "A" service for $159 for the non Turbo models and Approx $220 for the Turbo models to allow extra time for the retensioning of the manifolds which is standard for the T models. 4WD Models range from $300+ depending on exact model.

When they select the model in the invoice computer a standard list of items come up automatically and then they add warrenty issues at the end of the standard list. Therefore if the computer is told you have an XR6T the oil grade will automatically come up on the invoice correctly irrespective if they put that oil in or not.

Personally I would question this and the price charged and demand a refund.

I have paid from my dealer the following

15k service $189

30k service $176

45k service $160

60k service $211

75k service $220 (last week)

All done at the same dealership and all have the correct grade of oil and standard service items listed automatically when invoiced followed by any warrenty issues.

Good chance to give your dealer a plug who do you go too?

Freeway Ford Cranbourne.

They have been very good to me in regards to any Warrenty claims never had any complaints, arguments or back chat from them just a genuine we will try to fix this issue and most of the time they have first time. I have even had "While we were servicing your car we have found this problem and fixed it under warrenty" Not many dealers go to that extent. I have found in the past most will not fix anything not reported by the customer.

It seems to be a common problem with Ford.

Got my invoice back (only cost me about $130) and had the wrong oil.

I rang back and asked the question and got the "of course we put in the right oil, were profesionals"...

Pity they couldn't get their invoice right, like professionals would..

Anyway, if their are any warranty problems relating to oil... THEIR PROBLEM..

My father-in-law had his XT Forester serviced last week and they flogged him nearly $55 for about 4.5 litres of Castrol Magnatec!!  Magnatec is the only Castrol 10W/40 oil I know of so $49 for 7 litres seems cheap in comparison.

Fuel system cleaner 1 - $13.75 (bottle of Wynns spitfire no doubt)

Oil System cleaner - $14.10

I thinks that todays premium fuels and regular quality oil changes negate the need for these.  They are a dealer rip-off.

After all that, maybe you should post up the name of this dealership too. Also nice to know where not to go!

I know this sounds sarcastic, but do your eally think the guy typing the invoice know what type of oil went in your car?

He hands the machanic a job card & from there the next thing he will know is 'hey mate, that car is done' spares would have alotted him his parts which will be alocated to your car.

He has no idea what went in, sometimes a big difference between what is on paper & what is in youir car. I know of a Expensive Daewoo dealership whos apprentice thought the oil flush was to be left I the car so he added it with new oil every service for over a year! This stuff smells like kero & is to be put in & ran for 15 minutes before oil is drained. Do you really think the service manager knew about this?

Another thing that I hate about dealers while I am whinging:-

if you read thourgh your manual, inlet manifolds are suposed to be retensioned every service. Give it takes me around 30 minutes to do this, do you really think a dealer is doing this? I hate doing this job, but every ford since EA has been a little prone to these coming loose & cause ing probs. Anyways just my 2 cents worth, not trying to upset anyone, just my hunble opinion.
