lumpy id definately be pulling the AFM off and giving it a good clean out with some Thottle body cleaner or sumthing similar. look inside at the sensors and give them a good ol scrub with a cotton bud or sumthing gentle. once cleaned out give it anutha good dose of cleaner spray then hit the insides with a air compressor to get any residing sh*t out from the nooks and crannys!

worth a go and should only cost u $8 for a can of TB cleaner :stirthepot:

if that dont work take it to ford and get the to stick it on the computer, it should show up a fault code strait away and lead u to the cause. tell them just to test it, otherwise they will stick the new parts on and charge u HEAPS more when u could DIY and save.

Hi all,

Bit of an update. I went on a longish drive today with Dad and the Sprint.Car was running OK for a while then again, started playing funny beggars.

It basically 'felt' like a miss, and you could hear what would best be described as that excess fuel over-run, burble backfire noise. Also it chewed threough about 1/2 a tank in 120km trip. Sometimes you could feel it miss that bad that your voice sounded like it was going through a fan...(Ah-h-h-h-h, because it would surge..stop....surge...stop...). Also, a couple of times I heard it ping (twice and that was it)

I had a similar problem once with another car I had and that turned out to be dodgy Plugs, Leads, Rotor Button and Dizzy cap. (This is the first time I have been in the Sprint when it happened)

Luckily, the thing is booked in for its service tomorrow anyway, So Dad will get the to check and if needs be, replace the leads, coil, etc. As well as check the 'poo' tube etc (heh heh heh). If its more than that. I have got instructions on how pull the codes of the EEC-IV and have keyed up the very reluctant autosparky to assist with the AFM.

I appreciate what everybody has assisted me with and given me an idea of what it could be. I will keep you all updated.

Cheers,

Lumpy
