I'll miss it, it looked decent.

The only problems I see with it were that it should have been faster than an SS and wasnt. And the colors were very tame, boring. I walked past a dark blue monaro today and I actually noted how boring the paint was. Ford paint schemes are definitely more appealing.

I guess the 2 door coupe market isnt quite big enough...

what a crying shame to end this cars life this way.

im sure I'll get knocked by some for this but I have to say this was a great looking (before they stuck cops nostrils to the bonnet for the yanks), nicely powerful car that deserved to last longer than it has. trust the yanks to f*uck it up proper.

I loved the way this car was conceived, built in the basement after hours at Expensive Daewoo without any of the bigwigs smelling it under their noses and I doubt anyone at Ford would have the incentive (or balls) to do anything similiar.

while Expensive Daewoo created the coupe (monaro) and crewman ideas, ford has (excluding the brilliant teritory) pretty much walked the same design path for the last 20 years. falcon coupe - youre dreaming!.

dont get me wrong, im a ford man, but I'll recognise a bit of inginuity whoever it comes from.

I looked at the monaro before buying the turb, and apart from lacking 4 doors which my boss requested I buy (which I was going to ignore anyway), the cost of even a second hand (2003-04 model) monaro was out of the budget and the V8 for a work car was going to be too heavy on the juice, not that the turbo is anywhere near frugal.

so I hope they find a way for the monaro to continue to be built because its was and is a great car. And for the "dyed-in-wool" blue oval fans, if the monaro dies off there is even less of a chance of that 2-door falcon.

my... 2... cents!.

it will be back once they can get a suitable new chasis sharing program happening, that's the killer at the moment but they are still searching.... It's too expensive to custom build one just for a small volume vehicle.

Is this true?Sad to see an Aussie icon go.As an owner of four Monaros in a past life,I'd have to say that the latest VZ version with nostrils in the bonnet and any of the HSV GTO versions looked the goods!Perhaps if Expensive Daewoo raced Monaros in V8 supercars instead of Nations Cup things might be different.

Next to BAGT, Monara PRE that shocking bonnet nostril crap, was/is second best looking Aussie built car, underneath is typical average Aussie quality but a good looker she definately was, hats off to the pre nostril garbage designers

There never was any chance of a Falcon coupe anyway, 2 doors just don't sell. Ford learned their lesson back in the 70's when the only way they could sell the last 400 body shells was to make them into Cobras. If it wasn't for them selling the Monaro as the GTO it might have been canned a lot earlier as its sales have dropped heaps after every new model. I'd agree that the original looked OK as the design was consisent from front to rear, but add a spoiler, HSV plastic fantastic or nostrils and it soon looked like a piece of
