I've been driving almost 25 years.

I've had a new car (or rarely a low k hand me down) at worst every 3 years, normally less, for at least 19 of those years.

The T is my favourite (favourite I could afford - I must say an 850 BMW one of my bosses had was rather flash, still I'd rather the electronics in my T  )

The T has had the least initial nagging problems (always these are the worst).

My T has had fewer initial problems than the new Camry I bought my wife, certainly less than many mates cars Jap/Other Asian/Euro & Aus. It's a joke when you see some of the expensive Beemers with all this initial rattles and so on!

I'm happy.

I hate my turbo ute so much I have bought a Typhoon..........

Problems, smoblems. Just remember that it is a mass produced car and for the money, you really cannot go wrong.

As all the others have said above, yeah you do get the occasional problem, but if you read between the lines, the gripes are more with the dealers providing the service instead of the car.

I've had my T for nearly six months and I still volunteer to go to the shops just to give the thing a blast.

Best car I have ever owned.

I will probably get flamed down here however, there really are some Key issues with the T you should look out for when purchasing.

These issues are very common, and have been the bugbear of many owners.

Brake Shudder

Diff whine at 95km/h

Diff clunk/Shunt

Steering Shudder

Stalling issue

Heatshild vibration

Parkbrake loose, does'nt work properly.

Do not get the T5 (5 Speed Manual) and be aware of bearing noise and gear chatter issues with the T56 (6 Speed) I would recommend an auto.

Some owners have had auto problems, but on a stock T this should be the easiest thing to get fixed under warranty if something does go wrong as Ford are very aware of it.

These would be the most common issues, that ALOT of people have experienced. Whilst they are a great car as everyone has indicated, for a New/2 year old car they have issues that should not arise in today's technological environment.

Whilst I still love the T and value for money wise it's very good, you also need to keep a level head when purchasing as there are more with problems out there than there should be with a car such a this, and at it's age of life cycle.

Definately buy one, but make sure you get the right one.

Flame suit now On. :ermm:

JB,

I think that your list is fairly accurate (no need for the flame suit) and these as you have mentioned seem to be fairly common concerns for some. The real difference I guess for many is how these issues are dealt with by their service departments, if and when they do arise. I have had all but two of the issues you listed above, but having said that have had a fairly good run with getting most of them sorted. All things said and done, I would certainly buy another one in an instant, better still maybe even a Foon or Gt next time! :3gears:
