Just had my first encounter with a 2000 model Z05 Corvette 6-speed, birght red!

Private road of course, lined it up at 80kmh in 3rd and both belted it. An we were dead even all the way to 210kmh were I shifted into 5th and the aerodynamics of the Corvette took over and it just pulled and pulled and pulled away from me like I had taken my foot of the gas, what a machine!!

I was lucky enough to have a chat later on with the owner (who look as young as me, 20 something) and he said he has had it for three years. Lucky bas*ard. His girlfriend look like Swedish ski instructor, very nice too.

He was bloddy impressed with the utes ability to keep up with him all the way to the double tonne! But he still asked the dumb question... "Is it a Turbo?" LOL! Yeah, like the N/A is gonna keep up with a 405HP 5.7L V8 rocket LOL!

Does anyone have the specs of the Z05 because I'd like to compare them to my ute!

PS - My girlfiend was not impressed with my antics, but at least I have a witness!

As per your previous thread, tell her to get back into the footwell if she doesn't like the view out the window.

:spoton: I bet he was surprised to see you still along side of him for so long. Go the might "T"

If those specs are right on the Vet its easy to see that the 5th & 6th gears and aero is where he had you.

If your car is still a stocky there's, not much difference in Hp stakes between to two. Being a fat arse 1700+ kg ute compared the the weight of the Vet would also be a dis-advantage.

One thing in your favour. That's probably as good as it gets for the Vet. Go and get the edit done raise the rev limit and have the speed limiter removed chuck in another 70 odd rwkw and see who's playing catch me if you can then. :gooff::spoton:

Well done anyway :spoton:

I am persuming you mean Z06 since you said 405hp 5.7ltr. That is the LS6 that is in the HSV GTS basicly. Of course the vette weighing some 300kg less then a GTS and much more aerodynamic. I am not a big fan of Corvettes but the Z06 is one good car. not just in a straight line either. I can not wait until the C6 Z06 hits the streets. 500hp, 7.0ltr V8... Will fly!

There is also spy shots of the C6 Z06 Blue Devil testing lapping the Nürburgring. I belive a supercharged 7.0ltr sit under it making well over 600hp...

All I know is that it is a 2000 model and I have EDIT, and no I didn't hit the speed limiter, in fact I have no idea how fast I got, I was watching the road but as I was braking I saw the speedo swing back past 210 so itwas much faster than that.

The vette is a 13 sec car I believe? How much would they be worth brand new in Australia? Must be nudging $100K?
