Umm, and my other question (purely from an interest point of view, of course!), if you switch traction control off, do these firm shifts result in loss of traction between gears?  :spoton:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

For your interest :spoton:, I get alot more loss of traction even with TC on (since getting to 260+rwkw), turn it off and bye bye tyres generally ... I am not hard on my car and am not too power hungry .. but generally I drive in Sydney Traffic in peak hours and only really got the kit installed for when I want to be hard on it ... leave that to your imagination :fool:

Where are those LS2's .... :nono:

Cheers, Jason

Same symptoms for me, traction control cant cope very well at all.. Dunno if its just my car but anyone else get backfiring when giving it a bootful with tc still active ?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

TC never turns off but certainly cannot cope with the load, I have an APS 3.5" exhaust so no backfiring ... probably helps me in that area ...

Jeff ... I suspect it could cause a standard car to chirp on a really hard shift, but I can't be sure, the shifts are pretty firm compared to stock.

Cheers, Jason.

I've had mine for a few months, but am not doing much driving of BP lately, mine did chirp 1st to 2nd when first fitted but now just shifts much harder than prior to fitment. I leave mine turned off unless there is a purpose to have it on. Great bang for buck but no increase in power, just quicker ET's with quicker crisper shifting.

I have the shift kit and think its great. I think if you do a search you'll find a big thread on it. I think it's best used in conjuction with other auto mods.

When first fitted I was at a point where I was turning it on and off depending on what map I was running or driving conditions. Nowadays it stays on 24/7 as I am no longer used to the slushy feel of the standard change. I dunno if its just me but it seems to respond to the load on the engine ie- even in heavy stop start traffic I can hardly notice the changes now, but with a decent bootful you can notice the firm changes get firmer?? Perhaps I am just desensitised a bit. Box still holding together fine with 290rwk and no other auto mods as yet.

I agree, this is what I want to hear too.

But - how long and how many kms has it been holding together with the new rwks?

EDIT: OOOPS - I should have kept reading.

So far as daily driver comfort goes, when 'ON' it's not a comfort.

But then, I always have it on, when would you not want to be ready. :sofa::laughing:

From a stock 185kw auto that would never spin a wheel (mind you tyres are STILL under 5000km even now) in the dry with TC, and then only do it with TC off without any noise requiring only a slight steering correction when doing a 0-100 test, it's turned into a monster.

With 279.8rwkw and the kit on, the 1-2 shift will audibly chirp the wheels at almost any right foot pressure on any road at any time.

It feels like the rev limiter in reverse. :sofa:

I have a modded valve body sh*tkit @308kw and its perfect about 400bucks but it drives normal in auto mode and very hard shifts in performane or manual mode.Have not ran it yet down the quater with my new mods but I reakon the shift kit is worth 2-3tenths

Cool, sounds like a good/cheap way to start then. Hopefully I'll be able to afford to add something like a trans cooler as well somewhere down the track. Sigh, my list of mods just keeps getting longer...:whistle:
