Kinda defeats the purpose of owning a performance car, doesn't it?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

how?? :spit:

Bigger, heavier wheels compromise acceleration, handling around corners, and braking.

Not to mention the fact that they look out of proportion and (in my opinion) cheap and ugly.

:nono:

Beyond 19inch

I *cough* agree *cough* with Saleen :spit:

Make's it look like a Mitsubishi Lancer with teeny weeny little brakes. :spit:

I have to agree with some of the others in that anything over 19" is, IMHO, probably overdone. Having said that, I have seen some T's with 20" rims on them that actually looked good to me.

My major issue with rims that big is the ease with which you could potentially damage them. Careful as you might be with your car, you can't always avoid potholes, etc. I understand that even at 19" this can be a problem? Also, when I was looking into rims, prices, etc, I was told that 19" was the largest rim you could safely fit to a BA without having to do a few modifications. :uziman:

Maybe some of those that have 20" rims can tell you exactly what is involved, or whether you can get away with it by fitting 225 tyres as has already been mentioned (though with a 20" rim, I would suggest this might start to look a little skinny!!).

But yes, that blue BA with the 22" rears looks, to my eye anyway, just abominable! :spoton::lockd:

The problem is that all of the 20" rims people are putting on the T look, well, gay.

No offense to all the owners in the above cars pictured, but crap man, every single rim shown is chrome... AAAHHHHHHH! DIE!

I know its personal prefference, but chrome rims make me want to spew. Leave extra shiny additions to the rice club, make the body of your car a mirror finish, not your damn wheels...

/me puts flame suit on.

:fool: Finally, someone here that agrees with me on this! :nono:

I'll put my flame suit on now too Lawsy, 'cos I got a strong feeling we're definitely in a minority here... :nono::laughing:

Quick edit: I admit that I think SOME blueprint T's can pull off the chrome look, but it's a mighty fine line!!:blush:

In my opinion I reckon every car with large rims and standard brakes look plain  .

Not just the colour of the caliper makes it look crap, the amount of space between the rotor and the rim makes it look crap.

IMO, the only decent rim upgrade job's I've seen are MS700's and BCL's 19" Rim with Massive Front and Rear Caliper/Rotor combo's.

About bloody time some people with sense entered the thread (bugster70 incl)....

Big brakes + big rims (NO CHROME OR DIE!) = horny. Period.

Stick to that formula and purchase your rims with that in mind, and you can't go wrong...

for example.

Stock brakes? 17 or 18's look just fine...

Premium brakes? Goto have at least 18's!

Some monster pizza dish size brakes? Then 19's+ are a must, obviously!

Stick to that formula and kill everyone you see with chrome rims, and you cannot go wrong....

I thought the premo's required the 18's? Well, you learn something new everyday!

The 18's still look better though.....
