Sweet thanks! Does XBMC do the PAL-NTSC switch?

It does but can also change the system just for specific games. your best bet is to change the eeprom through your modchip bios as that way leaves no confusion :spoton:

Sorry to sound like a pain in the a$$, but could you explain this whole eeprom thing to me. I know what it stands for(electronically eraseable programmable read only memory). I got that far. :spoton: I'll be buggered if I can find anywhere what it does or why you need to back it up etc. What does changing the settings in it do? Is it where the basic info like this is stored or something?

Thanks again

Before things get too complicated... and I ramble on.

Is all that your after, is to change the video from pal to ntsc???

Yo can do that with a small simple program that runs from XBMC. I use it on the xbox that runs in my car when I need to bring it inside

ill go one better,

if you just want a quick and easy way to configue your xbox from a fresh drive with nothing on it to installing in your car the do the following:

1. goto google

2. in the search bar type "xbox maker 1.3" (you must ues the " 's)

3. click on the link

4. download the xbox maker v1.3 with your irc client (if you dont use irc then try to find a torrent of a newer version like v1.4 or v1.5)

5. burn to a DVD

6. run it in your modded xbox

7. wait 5 mins and shes all done

this disc auto sets up your xbox with everything you need to set it up properly from scratch. One of the programs is called config magic. its with this program that you can change all the settings in your eeprom (even the simple ones like NTSC :spoton: )

P.S. I must warn you that changing any thing in your eeprom other than the NTSC setting MAY completely f$#k up your xbox. so dont play with the settings, just change to ntsc and go.

Mods, if this kind of post is not appropriate then please delete it

Not the only thing. Just one of the things.

Basically I didn't even know how to open an xbox two months ago and I have been doing a crap load of research etc. and am now at the stage where I have ordered my mod chip and will be installing it when it arrives. I went for the solder type cause I felt like the challenge and figured it would be a bit more secure for a car mounted option.

I Have just been getting my head around all the terminology and bits and peices that you need to know, and my original question was mainly aimed at the more experience xbox modders out there, asking which of the thousands of homebrew programs out there did they find useful/cool.

ShockF6 :

I wasn't going to go and stuff around with the eeprom. but I might take your advise and just do the ntsc swap. I wonder if the x3 bios will allow you to do this? I guess the smart option would be to back up the eeprom to your pc before you touch it incase you stuff up... :fool:

P.S. Thanks for all the help guys!
