Hi everyone. I am only new this whole posting thing so here goes. I am in the process of installing an Xbox to my ride. Attached is a picture of the ICC. As you can tell I cannot get the sync to work. Does anyone have any thoughts on the matter? I have tried just about everything I can think of. I dont know if its correct but the Xbox is running NTSC RGB outputs into the ICC but know matter what sync wires I connect (either V Sync or H Sync) I cannot get any better than this. The box itself is running NTSC 4:3 - Is this correct?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Dave. :tease:

I have gone through the whole Doco but to no joy. I think my problem is getting the Xbox to run 16:9 not 4:3. I will have to find out how to change the video settings in more detail. Currently I only know how to go from NTSC M, NTSC J and PAL.

Oh well making progress slowly I think!

Have you really set your xbox to NTSC mode?

You can't can't make that change in the dash - you need to do it with a firmware switcher (Enigmah for example)... Actually having a go later this week on doing it to an un-modded box to get a legal setup...

The pic you're showing is of PAL trying to be displayed ...

Unfortunately I wish it was the case, but I can confirm that it is running NTSC as I did use enigma option "B". I have also gone into the original dash and changed to wide screen.

Hopefully this info might be of assistance to some one in the know!

On the XBox A/V plug I have removed the original wiring harness and installed the follow connections.

Pin 1 = Audio right

Pin 2 = Audio right Ground

Pin 3 = Not used ( Digital Audio)

Pin 4 = V-Sync (Does not seem to assist)

Pin 5 = Mode GND for Pin 17

Pin 6 = Mode GND for Pin 18

Pin 7 = Mode GND for Pin 19

Pin 8 = Ground

Pin 9 = Variable (Blue)

Pin 10 = Pin 9 Ground

Pin 11 = Variable (green)

Pin12 = Pin 11 Ground

Pin 13 = Not Used (VCC)

Pin 14 = Audio Left

Pin 15 = Audio left Ground

Pin 16 = H-Sync (Does not seem to assist)

Pin 17 = Mode Select 1

Pin 18 = Mode Select 2

Pin 19 = Mode Select 3

Pin 20 = Not Used (12volts output) Will be used once everything else is sorted.

Pin 21 = Pin 22 Ground

Pin 22 = Variable (Red)

Pin 23 = Pin 24 Ground

Pin 24 = Variable (Composite video signal)

Please note that if pin 5 is linked to 17, 6 is linked to 18 and 7 is linked to 19 then the Xbox will output RGB Scart type outputs. This is how my XBox to ICC cable is made. If you read the Doco on Digital TV it tells you what connections to make at the ICC. The problem I have is working out the Sync wires.

At this stage I believe the problem lies within the Xbox settings and not the cable I have made.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully this addition information will assist others in there design of cabling. Or it might just confuse the matter even more.

Thanks for your time. I shall leave it at that as its long enough already.

ahhhh.... My suggestion would be to use a xbox RGB cable and hack the SCART off the end :) This is what I've done with no problems. Inside the SCART end there is a resistor etc to trigger the Pin8? (SCART) detection of the device and all that which I've left off....

Use the composite signal line (Pin 24) to get your combined Sync from... There's definately better pinout guides around that the one you've got there. but in the end (becuase they spent way to much time disagreeing with each other) I sent into the SCART end of the deal :)

Well I'm Happy :spit::spit::spoton: to announce that the whole project is now up and running. Firstly I woiuld like to thank AaronMihe and Shane XR6T for there assistance/suggestions along the way. :spoton: It is now time to do all the installation work instead of the numerous trial runs. At this stage I still have to build my own auto switcher for audio and display when Xbox is turned on (Piece of cake). Also building a regulated power supply for the Xbox to run on 12volts.(not quite as easy as the auto switcher). Once all is in I will post some pics for others to see and not give up hope.

Once again thanks Aaron and Shane and everyone that has made posts on this topic. From all the little bits and pieces you pick up it has helped quite a lot. All the information you need is out there all you have to do is spend some time looking for it.

I have a brand new UNMODIFIED (ie Legal) Xbox that outputs NTSC here. It is possible to set a xbox to NTSC output without opening the case and installing a modchip. The box then functions exactly like a stocker...

It's for sale as I don't need 3 xboxes (it was a raffle prize from the local club).
