Hmm, wouldn't be a bad alternative, would it?! :msm::msm:

572 cubes and 720hp though, I can't imagine how much juice, tyres, etc, it'd chew its way through - I'd need a second job just to keep it on the road!! :gooff::fool:

For the same money I would..

-Buy two BA I6 heads..

-Go get a alloy block casted of a V12 60 degrees, using falcon bore spacing, bore, stroke, etc etc etc

-Machine said block

-Equipe with strong pistons and rods and custom crank

-Tune and map with aftermarket ECU

-Cams, porting, valves and springs for the I6 heads

Say hello to your 8.0L QOHC QVCT 48 Valve V12 pushing over 400 naturally asperated Kws to your rears.. Place this engine in a Fairmont Ghia body with a 6 speed and suitable brakes/clutch/shafts.

Okay, it would cost maybe $50,000... But then again I would imagine that engine wouldn't be cheap either.. Say $100,000 all up.. Nice little package.

I think I have seen it in those 'Parts Trader' mags, from the importer for around 25 or 30,000? (Australian)...

I THINK :spoton:

Lumpy :spoton:

The motor in my Cobra started life as a GM crate motor - LS7 454 - produced over 500hp out of the box. They are certainly great bang for bucks motors. Ford have Ford motorsport crate motors too - I think you can get a 600hp version of the Boss motor somewhere.

I would say the 20,000 price would be about the max - they are probably much cheaper than that.

What the ?

Goes to show just how far behind the GM boys really are.

Downdraft Cabies, with a DIZZY ?

Please boys into the 21 century please.

Fuel injection has been around for about 25 years now on performance engines hasn't it ?

And if they want it to RUN, it really should be running a coil per plug.....

Ferrari and BMW probably produce the same horses out of 3 litres...

Cobra weighs just over 1000kgs, and yes, the Falcon is a bit overweight.

It would be interesting to see how much weight can be saved with kevlar panels etc (like BMW do by the way on the limited edition M3).

Granted - injection is a better way to go - more power, and more efficiency at the same time, but..... more complicated, it is nice to work on a car that you can do everything yourself. Also - for the amateur guys - the carb is much cheaper.

My car is kind of a mix between the two - it has Hillborn injection - huge big butterflys per cylinder - enormous power - but drinks petrol like mad, runs too rich at low throttle positions.

Anyway - none of ius would put one of these in a Falcon - just thought you might like a look on the other side of the fence.

Here is a pic of my fuel injection system:
