Do you really think that Ford would not cover say a broken electric window motor under warranty because you've modified your power output. Come on!

No, I never suggested that as that is a complete d1ckhead statement, what I am suggesting is that some service departments look at mods and then make sweeping statements that anything remotely related is no longer covered.

ie. The statement by my service department that as I had chosen a different brand of brake pads, any brake issue would not be covered (more than just the brake shudder issue). Those sort of statements are just plain stupid.

Hasn't this topic been done to death already?

Based on the feedback we have received, there are no "this car has been edited" codes. At least not in the current ECU. If a code does appear on the ECU, then it can also be generated under non-edited conditions.

How many times do SCT have to state the same thing regarding the ECU overwrite and the codes?

Is this thread a bona fide case of wanting to find out if EDIT can be detected once removed? If yes, then there are a number of threads already on it here and elswhere. Otherwise is it another attempt at scaremongering or misinformation? By people employed by whom?

The old "you play you pay" will apply with edit as with any other mods, but only if the power increase can be proven as being the cause of any damage.

Rant over.

I also think it's quite naive of people to think that all "Ford Technicians" are as stupid as they think.

I'm sure there are a whole pile of excellent ford Technicians out there, none of them work in Darwin however. (I f'n wish they did!)

How can they be so clever to figure out an edit when they can't even remember to tighten an IC hose? Or any one of the multitude of stuffups poor old NT TURBO has suffered at thier hands?

Sorry Dude, they're not to cluey up here!

The only thing that the Ford Tecs know is that the boost has been changed. The ECU records the hi boost reading and when the service guys plug in to have a look, they see that the boost is not what it should be. Easy!

that's only if someones dumb enough to take their car to the dealer with the edit flashed in it... if it aint flashed in and the car has the factory setting in it the boost will be normal

Bit harder too once you have changed injectors. My solution is not take it to Ford for servicing. There are better, less expensive options.
