yes - why not.

Kevlar isnt that expensive.  It should be cheaper than genuine plastic one.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Kevlar is very lightweight aswell correct?

That bumper can be plastic welded - repainted and you will never know it was damaged.  You should look into it - would be cheaper than the excess possibly.

:Imwifhim: Hey Wayne with your run of bad luck lately you sure it wasn't a werewolf? It was a full moon last night! Seriously though mate, your share of bad karma must surely be at an end!

Haha, I hope so. Karma needs to go away....And fast...lol.

There is only minor damage. The bumper cannot be mended I'm told, so oh well, it's easier for me just to get the work done and reluctantly fork out the dosh to get it repaired, not happy but as some of you said, :pooh: happens! Just the level varies for me....lol.

Bumper has been forced back into place. No real damage anywhere else on the car that will stop me from driving it, few minor scratches underneath the headlight housing (the repairer will look further into it), the housing for the spottie is completley gone, smashed to bits. The SS Inductions CAI is cracked, OH great! (lucky there is a SS dealer umm a shop down from these guys). Few other minor things but the car is drivable. Took it to Beaurepairs to get the wheel allignment looked at. It was out by 1mm only but better safe then sorry, don't want to replace tyres just yet.

Haha, take a look at the botch job Iv'e just done with race tape to hold the damn thing together...lol. Poor Mandy. :Imwifhim:

Repairs are booked in for, :nono::pinch: hmmm, Tuesday 12th July. :gooff: The panel beater is the place GOLDIE uses so I will know they will do a good job. I trust Ian's judgement so yep, I'm going with them. They are also on Suncorp's list of repairers. Might not be the cheapest option but I'm going for the 'piece of mind' factor.

(Would have called in too Ian but there were cars all over the place, looked like you might have been flat out)...

RICE: If I went for the GT front, may as well go for the full kit. Not going the GT AWC alternative, would have been cool though but yeah, it would cost more as I'd have to pay for the painting, etc. $650 against $800+ just for the bumper, then there's the rest of the kit. Hmm, it can stay stock.

Werewolf? :Imwifhim: Hahaha, it was a damn huge dog/wolf/what ever it was, you never know. What the hell was a dog doing in the median strip of a motorway, lurking behind a bush, not 2 metres from the edge of the road, no signs of life apart from the other cars, no sign of housing or shops for a few kms? Hmm, one of those things. It was gone in a flash too, no sign of it. No chance of hunting it down to check for a name tag as the owners would be liable.

<water under the bridge> :spoton:

On the good side: All will be well soon. New SS CAI, new bumper (as the old one had gutter damage underneath, hidden from view), new spotties...etc. Just gotta supress my pride and drive something that looks a wee bit dodgy for now...lol.

I am sure it will look like new.

Yes -Kevlar is very lightweight - not sure on comparison to fibreglass - maybe half the weight? Main thing is you dont need of much of it to be strong (fibreglas often needs to have lots of layers to get the strength).

The body on the Cobra is around 2 to 3 mm thick. You can pick the whole body (without chassis etc) up by yourself without any problem. In comparison - lifting a fibreglass body took 4 of us - and it was heavy!

Plastic bumper, easy fix :Imwifhim:

Least you are ok, cars can be fixed.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Haha, yes JB.....lol. :Imwifhim::pinch:

I'm over it now, it will be fixed and no structual damage to suspension, structure...etc. Just cosmetic. :spoton:

But I'm sure we all go through the "I hate everything" stage when something happens to our lovelies. Just need a few stiff drinks and all will be fine, hehe. It's Friday, YAY!!!
